Dads203 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) I picked this little gem of a kit up yesterday from the post office. bought from Lucky Model for about £12 Its just a quick look at the kit and nothing too indepth but its nice to see a company kitting some Royal Navy boats in 1/350 scale. My Uncle served on board the Vanguard a few years ago so I thought it best to get this kit and build her as a present for him at some point. Details are great and part count small, looks like Bronco have used some slide mould technology for the fin or conning tower as its known. You also get two Trident D-5 missiles to display in the missile silo's and a nice display base. So heres the cover of the instructions and some shots of the pages, please excuse my photography skills, I really do need to buy a better camera. And the small decal sheet Next up the parts, all very nicely done with some great detail. The propulsor is very nice, moulded very thin and crisp. The hull details Small PE name plate. All in all a very nice kit and a bargain at 12 quid, lets hope they keep up the RN releases and we see some T Class boats in the future. Regards Dan Edited October 11, 2009 by Dads203

Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 That does look very nice, and should make a nice complement to the Airfix Illustrious. As you say, Dan, a Trafalgar would be great too. Or even an Upholder. Obi-Jiff

Obi-Jiff Yep, I'm hoping for a T class boat too, My uncle served on HMS Turbulant for 6 years as a stoker, I managed to spend a day onboard after they returned from patrol, that must of been back in the late 1980's now. Fingers crossed that Bronco keep up the Modern Royal Navy releases. Dan

I hear it's due for release early January next year.

Thanks David, Saw it in the flesh at Telford on Saturday, i't will be one for the stash thats for sure, looks like a bumper year for modern RN subjects
Dave Fleming Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Couple of build reviews of it http://www.modelshipwrights.com/modules.ph...ent&id=4568 http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/misc/ships/tmcvan.htm
Murdo Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Curious paint scheme. The V boats are actually totally black all over. You will get away with a very, very dark gray (the same as tyres are "black") for highlighting. They don't have a lighter gray lower hull below what would class as the "waterline" and there is no all round demarkation line for a waterline. They also don't have smooth sides. The only smooth-ish area is the deck area.
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Great news about the Airfix Trafalgar. Who'd have thought, even a couple of years ago, that we'd soon have two RN subs in 1/350 plastic? Obi-Jiff
steveinns Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 There's something very charismatic about submarines & strangely addictive ! Especially as there is such a rich choice to enjoy spanning the decades. Keep them coming.
