AnonymousDFB1
This is what I plan to build at some point. This kit can be built as a 'see thru' version, so I plan to do parts of the port side in transparent and the starboard side as per norm. Yep it comes with a stand! The Velociweiler
Hello Mish. Yes - I've built this one in that form - nicely detailed kit and goes together just fine - but oddly enough, Tamiya isn't the originator. They took over the moulds from Twelve Squared. The original kit (rather miserably) provided only one transparent fuselage half, but as a bonus, on their decal sheet they provided the nose decoration for the B-29 carrier and launch aircraft. As far as I remember, this X-1 kit dates back to about 1987-88, and frankly, doesn't show it. Nice one to choose.

zero
Mish this is a lovely little kit, I would highly recomend using the clear fuselage too. What I did with mine was build it completely painted internally using the clear parts, and then stuck a blob of various shaped blue tack in the motor, tank and cockpit area, the effect looked really good. Sadly the model is no lost to the realms of time, but I have some pictures some where. Dave

zero
As promised my build with the blue tack masking in certain areas, I seem to remember I used one clear and one solid placstic side http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/23535482 Dave

Alan P
Looks really good!!! I didn't realise it went white in later life, but it stands to reason looking at subsequent planes in the series. Al

Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Very nicely done, Mish. Not a criticism, but a thought - have you considered edging the cutaway sections in red (or similar contrasting colour)?
