John I've just realised that the open panel option is for the guns not the engine. It would require some more surgery to open the engine panels up. Sorry for the confusion. Â It must be a tricky call to decide whether to go for the sleek lines or open everything up to display the internals. I have a stack of 1/72 202s and 205s to build so I will be taking notes! AliGauld Posted March 26 Author Share Posted March 26 I will admit I've been putting this bit off until I'd done a bit of research and practice on Lifecolor paints. Â So mixed 50/50ish with Lifecolor thinners and sprayed in light coats. The neat trick I learned online was to hit each layer with the hairdryer and then spray the next one. Â After 4 coats. Â Â Happy with that. Â Other bits for the bulkhead also got painted. Â Â Â Â Â These will be glued shortly and meanwhile I'll get on with the undercarriage, which, unfortunately, has to be fitted now. Â Â Â Â Â That can settle in overnight and I'll get some chrome for the oleos and a light wash done tomorrow, I'll give the engine a little dirtying up and should be able to get it glued in place. Off to a great start, Alistair  I'm not too sure about the engine mounting frames color, but I'll have to check my references - I might remember it wrong.  As for Lifecolor paints, I mix them with IPA, water and Windex when I airbrush them. Let's say that a 15% IPA water solution is the main thinner, with which I get the consistency that I want, then I add Windex to make it flow properly - this last part varies a lot according to the specific color.
