Maddoxx77 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) You've guessed it.... time for the next build. Got to keep the production line going 🤣 This Flak Panther never existed irl. It was a concept that never saw production. I think it's an interesting model and i can't wait to start the build. No vignettes or diorama's this time. I think i'm going for a wooden base with a little plaquette. However, first things first.... the build itself. It's a full box that comes with PE, NOT working tracklinks and a shitload of parts 🤪 So let's start the checklist. Spruecutter ✅️ Sandingsticks ✅️ Glue✅️ Glasses✅️ Cold beer ✅️ Let's crack on! Feel free to tag along. It's always nice to have you guys around. Cheers! 🍻🍻🍻 Edited August 16, 2023 by Maddoxx77 I updated the track situation 8
PeteH1969 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Another good subject to follow. I have one in my stash to build sometime. Pete 1

Maddoxx77 Posted July 7, 2023 Author Posted July 7, 2023 Yesterday i started working on the lower hull. A little point of attention: the instructions tell you the following: It's important you sand the ends of the pins flush otherwise they won't fit in the holes. It took me quite some fiddeling to make it fit. A tip would be to wait with glueing the torsionbars where the pins have to go trough. Next step: There was some filling to do. I made some pins with excess sprue. Glued them in place. Once dry i can snap them off and sand it flush. That's it for now. have a great friday! 8
Hamden Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Nice start to this project @Maddoxx77 and totally different to your last one. Will follow along to watch the magic happen - beer and popcorn ordered Stay safe Roger 1
Keeff Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Oooh, another project with an intersting subject! Even though I'm on holiday, count me in .... I'll get the beer chilling! Keith 😁 1
edjbartos Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Nice start Maddoxx, looking forward to seeing this develop.. Ed 1
FrancisGL Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Hi Maddoxx, A strange subject, but one that can give a lot of play, since the artillery piece is exposed, I imagine with many details.... Cheers Francis.👍 1

I came across that picture too. However i could not find any documentation about it. So this kit leaves me with a bit of a dillema: Am i doing a 'factory fresh' model or am i going all in with figures, stowage and weathering? For now, it's just the build. I'll see what i'll do when i get there.
Maddoxx77 Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 Made a bit of progress in the last couple of days. I did all the roadweels ( Why do Panthers have like a gazillion roadweels???? ) The drivesprockets and the iddler weels. Also some work on the upper hull and the back was done. First PE parts are in place. So far i like this kit. It's my first hobbyboss kit but i have to say that the first impressions are really good. The plastic is sturdy. The cast details are really good and the instructions are clear. Anyway, here are some progress pictures. I'm off to sit in the swimmingpool with a cold beer. Cheers!!! 🍻🌊 10
Stef N. Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Nice clean build with some crisp details. Liking the etched parts especially the exhaust holders. So many wheels....😀👍 1
PeteH1969 Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Looks very good. What have you done to the idler wheels they are supposed to be 90° from the Hull sides? Pete 1
Keeff Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Nice PE details and steady progress so far! 👌 I'm guessing the idler wheels are dry fitted at the moment? Keith 😁 1

If not i need glasses fast 🤣🤣🤣 The fit of the weels is very loose. Edited July 11, 2023 by Maddoxx77 1

I'll see what i'll do when i get there. It was a single field modification done by the crew so there isn't any official documentation, in fact the only information available are from two photos of it in the same place from different angles. As it was an old tank that was modified in the field it wouldn't be "factory fresh", so heavy weathering a stowage would be the most fitting. It's your model though so give it a giant ray gun & paint it pink if you want to 😛 Edited July 12, 2023 by Mig Eater 3 2

PeteH1969 Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 It was a very early Panther used remember that it had already been converted to a BergPanther so the driver/radio operators hatches removed no winch gear but probably the towing brackets had been added and the drivers/radio operators cover had been fitted, it had probably had it's turret damaged on the eastern front which is why it had been converted to a BergPanther before being sent to Greece. As Mig Eater says it's your model so go to town on it. Tank Power 2 Panther Volume 2 shows how this version of BergPanther and the items fitted but it does not show any flak gun fitted (so not this particular vehicle). Pete 1 1
Maddoxx77 Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) This kit almost builds like tamiya! The fit of the parts is excellent. So i managed to do alot this morning. Upper hull is done. I started on the Flak gun assembly. I like that hobbyboss gives you the option to use PE parts or plastic. This is a great safety. I can try the PE and if i f*&' it up i can use the plastic part instead. So far the PE parts work great altough i have to say the parts are a bit thick. The Flak gun is almost complete. I still have to do the armour screens. I dry fitted it on the hull to check the fit. When they are done i'll start working on the tracks. That will be a bit of a tedious task. That's it for now. Cheers! 👍👍👍 Edited July 12, 2023 by Maddoxx77 12
vytautas Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Hi, Beautiful flak! Panther of course too, but the flak especially - I really like those all small things on them very much. I am really enjoying following your thread Vytautas 1
Maddoxx77 Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 I'm a proud modeler 😁 The Flak gun is done with all the PE in place. time for some trackbuilding....... jeej 😝 6
Stef N. Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 That looks great. Very nice metalwork.👏 What variety of tracks came with the kit? 1
