large plastic porn.....there is a heaven!!!!

You're doing such a lovely job on her, even the odd issues doesn't seem to be too much to over come. I'm really enjoying this build, keep up the awesome work.

I really must stop looking on evilBay for this model, it's not good for my help and probably be very bad for my wallet!!!    ...........but it's only a matter of time!

Got both engines attached after a little fettling  .

IMG_20230812_132829853

The instructions have parts j7 and j1 attached before hand which i did , but i think best if attached after engine attached to wing as exact positioning of both j7 and ji against the wheel well fairing needs to be exact . I managed to remove mine and reattach in correct alignment

I have made up the Peilgerät (PeilG) 6 direction finding areal

IMG_20230809_132240353

The "sunburst" pattern. df loop  is from the kit decals attached using Future floor polish .

This is the drive motor and gearbox for the rotating antenna,

IMG_20230809_132403587

I think that this week i will aim to decide which engine covers to attach ( at present thinking i will cover one engine completely and have other near fully exposed ) . and then snag all the little rough parts so what is done is fully finished before any more parts are attached as its getting more difficult to move around .

I have also not as yet given any thoughts to exterior paint job but i feel that time is getting close .

superb work and progress on this. extremely impressive 👌

just a note - but be careful of using some pens on the outer surfaces.

they can sometimes seap through layers of primer and paint and be seen on a finished model.

ask me how i know

aaaaarrrrrr......    this build gets better with every update!

I'm still just lookin, but I may have to hit that button soon!

@Alan P   there should be a viewer discretion warning before each of these updates....as excessive viewing may lighten ones wallet among other things....... :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Progress has been slowed considerably due to the release of Baulders gate 3, a computer game that sucks hours of life in the blink of a second .

Some progress has been made on securing the engine cowlings over one engine , the other shall have all its covers removable .

IMG_20230822_132756530

managed an almost perfect fit with the lower engine covers on port side .

IMG_20230822_132852067

Top covers went better than expected too

IMG_20230822_132931440

I will reduce the small gap at their top connection with some thin plastic card .

The exposed starboard side .

IMG_20230822_132939033

IMG_20230822_133003669

Nearly all the plumbing lined up .the bit that didnt wont show :)

Word of warning . Dont use too much extra thin capillary acting glue as it can melt its way through the thin plastic areas from the inside out .

IMG_20230822_132746783

I guess it could have been worse . made the repair with some Milliput .

Baulders gate permitting , im going to start some painting on the tail as this can be completed and attached at a later date .

The painting is done as a reverse mottle with the RLM 76 squiggled over the RLM 75 to create the grey mottle spots .

I have just ordered the paints from sovereignhobbies.co.uk useing their Colourcoats range of enamels .

I used these on a previous model this year and was most impressed , nice and smooth and bonded well . This is essential as the paintwork is going to be masked for the application of markings etc .

Im now off to kill a level 7 boss monster :)

Gosh this is tense.

Thankfully Baldur's Gate isn't out yet on PS5, but I have just started a third or fourth attempt to get past the intro levels of Red Dead Redemption 2 when I should be working on my FT,

Super work again, you're really making a masterpiece from this kit 👍

I've recently got into RPGs (sci-fi/post-apocalyptic ones) having been a lifelong shooter aficionado! While Baldur's Gate isn't likely to be on my shopping list I completely sympathise with your ongoing battle over scant leisure time between modelling and gaming!

gosh she is looking so nice, you're doing an awesome job on her....will use this thread as a guide when I eventually get mine......I know it's only a matter of time!

I'm not sure about Balder's Gate, but I know the next instalment of Assassin's Creed is out next month....there goes a lot of modelling time for me!!!!

Splendid progress Alistair (sp?), your Uhu is certainly going to have real presence when finished.

As for gaming, I guess I’m of a generation that has rarely tried it, I never have and never intend to.

I'm of a generation that persuaded their parents to buy them a ZX Spectrum for "doing school work on" and has never stopped. Still, it keeps me out of trouble, and it's something to do while paint/glue dries :)

Thanks Alan .  Fall out must tick all your gaming boxes .  Its getting on now but still looks good on a modern computer.

Yes its Alistair ,not one of the lookalike Alasters etc .  I can see from your Hunter Master piece that this is where your focus lies with your modeling skills .

I'm 63 in a few weeks time so did without computers while at school and even calculators were out of bounds in the classroom . Got  my first computer for my business but soon found the joy of gaming . Most played games over past 30 years ..

1 Total Annihilation

2 Sudden Strike

3 Tiberian Sun

4 Morrowwind

5 IL 2 Sturmovik

6 Fall out New Vagus

7 Never Winters Nights

Most games  record how many hours you have spent killing rats etc  .... This info must NEVER fall into the hands of ones partner :)

Well back to the 219

A front on picture to show just how tight the fit of the engine is .

Haven't tried it yet, currently working through The Walking Dead with my daughter, just started Guardians of the Galaxy and just loaded Chernobylite. Started Cyberpunk 2077 but it's just too big at the moment!

This is looking really good and coming on very well. I must admit I'm starting to look at the calendar, I thought I'd have ages for this build but my job seems determined to stop me finishing in time!

The only surviving He 219 located at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington has been partially restored but clearly shows the reverse mottling done with a thick and geometric type squiggle of Rlm 76 light blue over a base of Rlm 75 grey .

The area of paintwork exposed when the wings were removed shows the original paint , the other paintwork has been redone to match .

This is my interpretation

The markings have been applied using the One man Army stencil set . These are the best stencils iv used with clear instructions and they don't curl .

painted with Sovereign Hobbies enamel paints.

Iv now got some idea how long the rest of the camouflage will take as the tail took around two hours
