Ideally I'd suggest fine grade Micromesh but perhaps a little toothpaste on a soft cloth as an ersatz alternative.

Nice paint job there Longbow.

A multi grit polishing stick would be a solution to smooth down the gloss coat as suggested by Col.

Wonderful and fast! Like everyone has said those harnesses are superb but they are only one part of a great build. I am glad I did not blink. I would of missed it.

Ray

Thanks, Ray !!

Hmmm.....

Here’s the larger lower and upper wing markings.
The upper ones are showing some edge wrinkles, which may, or may not settle.
We shall see.
These were the Eagle Cals, which seem rather thick.

Hi LB.

Are they on reversed, as they appear to have a angle cut into them, maybe for fuselage sides, or for matching wing panel lines.

Could just be a optical illusion though.

Paul

Ps. Having my own problems, so understand the change from nice flat armour.

For the fuselage markings, I moved to the Hasagawa decals.
This was a huge risk due to the age of the transfers.
Fortunately it worked out, and they are much thinner than the Eagle Cal markings.

Lee, looking at those last photos I would say that your gloss coat wasn't glossy enough, the decals have a shine but the paint looks matt.  Hopefully a clearcoat will even everything out.

Which gloss finish did you use?  I use either Mr Color gloss varnish or future floor polish, both thinned with self levelling thinners.

Welllll... I used Testors, and it was a complete disaster.

Can you thin future (klear for me) with water Bob? Self levelling thinners are a bit strong for enamel that I use.

(Apologies for the thread digression Lee)

Cheers,

I haven't tried water with Future/Klear Charlie, I suppose an experiment could take place.  I read somewhere on this site about adding self levelling thinner and it does work well on Mr Color acrylics.

I used to use Testors and cannot recall any problems, I thought their matt varnish was very good.  Back when I was stationed in Gerrmany I could get a lot of my models and paints from the USAF bases.  I'm surprised at the thickness of those Eagle Cal decals, which century were they from?

Baby Jesus and the wee donkey, what's going on here!

No 88 or even 75mm, no texture to the armour plate and those sticky out things look as if they'll snag on the first shrub it passes!

Looks great Lee, nice to have a break from the usual....🤔
