Cheers Doc Cheers Doc not had a good look at the anchors yet so might take your offer up if they are that bad On 10/16/2020 at 9:57 AM, RGL said: So, a 2fer, another GZ builder. Have at it, the Strasser always had huge potential as a helicopter attack ship too! That would be another Wiff kind of thing to do but what type of helicopters could you get 🤔 or scratch build. Well started to add some details to the boat deck using some plastic rod as vents and some spare PE used the degaussing cable from my KGV PE to the ceiling parts to make it look like electrical cables running along the roof The INFINI set provides some screens so the vents go behind just to give an impression of some things there will also add some smaller bits to look like storage lockers and started on the Davit's Also started on the GZ escort Zerstroyer. That shot reminds me I need to drill out the porthole quite a few Stay Safe beefy
beefy66
So started to drill out the portholes it took me nearly an hour to do 74 of them then I had a brainwave yes another one so for the faint hearted look away now the big toys have come out to play again or at least my cordless drill 😱 Now working at the most productive car plant in Europe it had to make a time saving so the rest of the 413 holes only took 20 minutes. the port side will be done tomorrow Stay Safe beefy 8 4

Beefy, did you do anything special to hold the tiny drill bit in the cordless drill's chuck? John 1
Michael M
Not to be nasty, but what was the point in making those 413 holes? Now you have to stuff something into the hull to prevent other side from being visible. Simple wash saves time and produces better result... I know, I'm a mean b a s t a r d , just disregard me Edited October 19, 2020 by Michael M

Not nasty at all Michael I have tried the wash method and the pencil point to colour in but having seen the HMS Kent build by @robgizlu the drilled out option looks more acceptable gives the look of depth you are right will have to put something behind because there are so many of the things but hopefully when the hanger and other bits are in it should look better we will see and play about with it first. Now has anyone got in mind a good supplier of DKM watertight doors they seem to be in short supply at the retailers at the minute 22 hours ago, JohnWS said: Beefy, did you do anything special to hold the tiny drill bit in the cordless drill's chuck? Hi John nothing special I bought these drill bits like this shinny syndrome thought OH they look good and they are great to use with the drill or by hand The smaller ones can be a bit fragile bit like me my other pin vice holders also fit in the chuck but can be a bit awkward a little to long But I can also use them as holdes in the desk vice Couldn't resist building the flying saucer 👽 Stay Safe beefy 8 1

beefy66
Cheers Gent's 1 hour ago, robgizlu said: Bit of an epic assembly Rob the Davits were not that bad really x3 folds and x2 drums on the rear about an hour to complete all 16 and the barrel mounts for the 8 turrets just slotted together liking this INFINI set so far So small update I have painted the inside of the hull with a black primer thinking about the concern of light bleed that @Michael M raised with me drilling 856 holes yes I counted them all I had a bit play dry fitting the fore and aft decking with the hangar deck and flightdeck and had all my desk lighting on it from various angles and no bleed so all good even drilled out the destroyer holes and added some of the PE for that build. So these will be put to one side for a little while I await the doors and porthole sets Stay Safe beefy
beefy66
A little more work on the Zerstroyer using the WEM PE removed the moulded on depth charge rails and started fitting out Stay Safe beefy
beefy66
Well the postie has left a couple of bits this week mainly port hole covers and doors and a couple of full sets for a later build. European post seems a lot slower that from the USA Comparison of the doors and portholes the WEM looks better for details and the break water and stern protection frame added and before anyone says it is not straight it is called work hardening Stay safe beefy

Hi Bob the wax does leave a small amount of residue but it is easy wiped off after the glue sets I usually use white spirit on a cotton bud to give the bits a quick wipe over before applying primer HTH Well small update playing around with some bits for the GZ boat deck areas couple of doors some spare vent for bulkhead and a vent hatch so far sorry bit out of focus Stay Safe beefy

beefy66
Well after deciding on the camo for this going for the same as Z30 had and paints arrived this week after hearing that @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies was reducing his 3rd party lines in a sale I thought it was rude not to so used some of the money I had saved this year by not going to any shows for stuff and help reduce it for him. it will be a miss and so handy but needs must as they say this lot will keep me busy for a while. Camo scheme for Z43 remember it is a WTF build so I decided right so stocking up for a long haul to go with my other paints. And me Christmas prezzie from the missus she just has to wrap it up til next week. Now back to all them cable reels and doors to add on GZ Stay Safe beefy 7
