Greg Law
Rich, I'm not sure if this will fit here. I'm replacing the Ju 188 with it as I feel like and easy build and paint scheme. If it doesn't fit that is Ok. I got it the other day and was looking at it last night and before I noticed I had most of the main cockpit together ready for painting. Kind of got rather excited.😃
Greg Law
Progress today. Painted all the parts that need RLM66 when I did the Me 262 cockpit front glass Here's a dry fit. I'm going to really enjoy this one. I'm going to do it as a Bomber with the Bombay open. This kit comes with a nice big bomb.....
Greg Law
After a day painting the cockpit including the dials. There will be no PE or decals in this cockpit other than the seat belts. I finally can show some blurry images of my effort. It was a real battle for me and my first attempt at ignoring my tremor and painting something so fine. I did something different. I filled the dials with white then painted the black to form some kind a dial effect. Unfortunately it is impossible to get a sharp image so close. The whole thing looks better in person. I'm not going to weather it much as these were new planes. This is the Dry fit stage. The fit is excellent so far. Two projects together. You might notice the Me 262 is ready for undercoating. The Do 335 is a lot bigger than the Me 262.
Greg Law
I'm going to try and get this thread moved to Work in progress. As it is a trainer it doesn't quite fit here. But before it gets moved I will show where I got up to today. This is a very easy build model. This is all glued together now.
Greg Law
This thread has come from the specialist thread. I'm build the Me 262 there.
jenko
Looking good Greg. What you don't realise is how big the thing is until you start making one. Dick
Devilfish
Nice start. I've built one of these and there are no issues with it whatsoever, in typical Tamiya fashion. I did mine as a Luft '46 Afrika Korps communications hack 20170326_104232_zpsrmnvzgvc by Paul Carter, on Flickr 20170326_104313_zpsmoyoqatu by Paul Carter, on Flickr
billn53
What are you using for the seat belts? They look very nice.
Greg Law
The seat belts are standard Eduard ones.from their German seat belt PE. Paul I like that desert look. Well done. What paint did you use for that desert colour. I have a He 111 build planned for next year in that colour. I'm not happy about the Mr Hobby colour I have it looks too brown. I'm not sure if I have got the Bombay colour right. I did it in RLM66 I have a feeling it should be RLM02. Can someone help on that? This has been the best kit I have done. I'm only using resin exhausts and the PE seat belts. Other than that it is straight out of the box. It will be 111 with an open bombay. I might add my Me 262 to this thread as it isn't correct for the Specialist thread. I will leave the Recon Me 262 there.

AFAIK the RLM kept RLM02 on all interiors other than the cockpit throughout the war until the conditions got so bad that they were running out of paint

Mattlow
Your call really. Only a handful of 335 trainers were built (to be honest they'd have had a fuel tank in the bomb bay if anything - but a bomb would have been possible). The colours would probably have been unpainted on the dural parts (skin etc) and RLM 02 on the steel parts. Steel had to be painted as it rusted so quickly, in fact these parts were often painted at point of manufacture to prevent deterioration before they were even used. Basically, a patchwork of bare metal, RLM 02 and RLM 66 would look quite effective - if you can be bothered.. ? Matt EDIT: nice work by the way. It's a good tight fitting kit, isn't it.
Greg Law
You are right about the the bomb bay. I just like the idea of having it open. I think I will respray it RLM02.
Mattlow
Is there not a fuel tank in the kit for the bomb bay? i recall a flattened cylinder shaped tank in the kit..? Maybe I'm dreaming? Matt
Greg Law
I think you are dreaming. I will check. The 1/32 kit has one.

Greg Law
This is my Me 262 I will be doing on this thread as well. It comes from the Specialist group build. This is the second attempt at this kit. The first on went really wrong and became a paint test model. This one still required a lot more work than the Anteater. They are at the same point of construction. The tread is here.
Thom216
Nice work so far on your Anteater. I have a Tamiya Do335A sitting half finished above my bench and it is a great kit to work with. I also have the trainer version in the Stack and looking through it I didn't see any provisions for a fuel tank or a bomb. But, that doesn't mean you can't dummy one up.😉 Came across this image while searching. Pulling up a stool and watching.
Greg Law
My one has a bomb. So I thought I would use it.
Pete in Lincs
Would you like a list of targets? No, scratch that, you'd need a B-52 or three. What do you mean this isn't the grumpy modellers thread? Insomniac Pete

Greg Law
Thanks Paul. I have them. This is what I mainly use at the moment. I wonder if I can lighten it up a bit. The He111 has a real sandy look to it. It was most likely bleached in the sun.
Greg Law
While I'm here. I don't suppose anyone has the Do 335 night fighter conversion kit in some dusty dark corner? I would really like to do one.
