Airfix 1/72 Stuka ...Italian style......finally FINISHED!

Recommended Posts

With some encouraging words I am just posting an update before a few changes in direction

Here's some more shots to show what the bird is looking like...

She's now pretty dirty and grimey....not sure how authentic but dirty and grimey (don't look at my seatbelts.....) :chair:

1604500_366020060226458_4094313797801100

Here's some more

I have to paint the exhausts and re-weather and maybe add exhaust stains...never done those.

I am also interested in some "chipping" which could look cool but I'm not confident on that technique and a bit worried I'll stuff up what I've got!

I can still tidy or "clean off" any of this as it's my water based pastel on a coat of future courtesy of Paulo. :thumbsup2:

Here's the underside (I know you've already seen it....such is life)

10527287_366020320226432_258447273988023

I've decided my masking on the canopy wasn't right so it's been stripped with windex (it was coated in future and part painted before) and now it looks like this again

10734245_366021186893012_672194159255872

Because my seat belts are possibly the worst restraining device I have ever seen on this forum I am going to hide them!

With these....

10547425_366019630226501_464238205265449

Two very small and uncomfortable Italian pilots who I am going to trick up in some very fashionable 1940's Italian airsuits and plonk them directly over the top of my accuracy challenged seat belts and then crown them in glory with a smashingly nice and very see through brand spanking canopy possibly finished with painted decals rather than masked and sprayed.....

Stay tuned :coolio:

Just a quick post ...nothing amazing.

tried to add a bit of chipping with a small rough brush and some Humbrol 11..

Needs a tidy up but this is it with all the minutes I've had available.

I'm so time poor I get charity donations from Seiko.... :frantic:

10447853_367628753398922_8872121990033731463753_367628450065619_90309256662701641507636_367628363398961_246357903485927610348452_367628293398968_47157793989294910392306_367628290065635_239892331720120

The rough Gelb demarcation on the cowling hasn't disappeared with weathering and has succeeded in driving me nuts.....that will get a tidy up.

Also any of the chipping bits that look a little big or round and not quite right. I'll give those a tickle up too.

Cheers

Bruce

Nice chipping, just the right amount of it :goodjob:

Molto gentile.

I'm hoping a nice matte coat will settle it all down and bring it all together.

Next step is those pilots and getting some backsides on seats..

Thanks for following

Hi Bruce

Great to see the progress

Now that you you have a crew, I have a great book showing lots of Italian aircrew photos, just to warn you white was a very popular colour for flight suits !

Cheers Pat

Hi Pat,

I'm trying to find anything to do with Stuka pilots from 239a Squadriglia 97 Gruppo around 1941.....something stylish Italian even in white!

Certainly want to do a version that is not a blue or grey flight suit and a yellow Mae West....I want it to be distinctly different to highlight the Italian theme!

Mr Google will be working fairly hard on this one I think.

Cheers

Quick post as I've had no time and done bugger all.

Here's Giuseppe and Rocco in an Italian flight suit version I sort of spied on the internet with bluish pants a khaki top and a white vest.

At least it's different....it is Italian ...authenticity wise I think the Gruppo wore it......I think... :coolio:

10367550_369491149879349_277014120173973

Here's another ...

10361320_369491173212680_492584722005711

the plan is dip them in Future....let that dry.....give that a wash with a slightly browny thin acrylic watery thingy ....spray them matt..... then glue their italian backsides over the top of those crappy seat belts and see how it looks

Here's a mildly chipped prop..

10689540_369493703212427_324983968595446

and this is a pic of the tanks pretty much done just because every photo before was crap

10416633_369493659879098_215827310753069

Cheers

Your photos aren't crap they are quite good. I like Giuseppe and Rocco, they have come up looking the bees knees. Good to see you are nearly finished.

Your Stuka is looking really good.

I can't seem to get started modelling again. Too many other things to do, now I am waiting for a young bloke to come and get 2 bee hives out of a wall downstairs. Then I will have to fix the gyprock and repaint the wall, FECK it. I waited a month for a plumber to shift a pipe under a path out the front of our house. He would say "I will be there this week Stevie". I got the dry top tits with him and rang his partner and the pipe was moved that day.

I am going to stuff some of the jobs and finish a model or two.

Stephen
