  1. Looks good, a fun build and first in the gallery.
  2. And a start. So far as I can tell, the Loyd carrier was a truck with tracks. The engine Most of this will be black, and hidden. For those watching my universal carrier build, both the Loyd and Universal carriers used a Ford 85hp engine. There are differences between the additional components on the two models, but the basic design is very similar. They clearly thought about airflow when designing this thing: the upper crew compartment and a start on the engine bay. I found some reference photos for this build: https://picryl.com/topics/irish+guards+during+world+war+ii These are the Irish Guards, taken at Aalst while they were headed for Eindhoven.
  3. Yes, I generally try to feel for the end of the sprue gate with my snips ... doesn't always work well. And, the carpet monster has had a nibble. Hope I can replace the part with plasticard. Progress, I've started on the brass: The engine - most of which will be black and hidden in its own compartment. And the lower hull These channels will support the exhaust. Hiding the exhaust under the hull left it vulnerable to crushing as the carrier ran over bumpy ground.
  4. Looks like 1960's Airfix instructions; maybe lacking the detail?
  5. Looks like good progress there Thom. Not sure about your putty issue. Without ruining the plastic? Sorry.
  6. Looks like an interesting, if complex, project - just changing that radiator grill, and the exposed pipe-work would worry me.
  7. That is masking good progress, nice catch on that bulkhead.
  8. @rob Lyttle It takes some looking, but the box says "Hunting Percival Sea Prince" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percival_Prince
  9. Want to get this started, so, some sprue shots... The instructions The carrier's instructions are on the left, while the gun's are on the right. Sprues Wheels, tracks and other duplicated items Engine and lower hull Upper hull, and chassis Canopy (tarpaulin) frame Extras Decals, brass, &c Gun
  10. When this was proposed, I couldn't help laughing; it was so different from anything else here (even the Mulberry harbour), and it meets the criteria in the rules. The build, when it starts, should be interestingly different too.
  11. Nick I'm happy for you to build that here.
  12. 🤣 Yah, it fits the criteria. Go ahead.
  13. Had to read that a couple of times (the Fulcrum was a worrying distraction); sounds like a good project.
  14. Assuming the tyre in the last photo is (at least, partially) dry fitted, MiniArt's tyres work well. Even dry fitted, prizing these apart can be an 'interesting' experience. The wheel hubs are a close fit too, and may need a bit of fettling, but, once sandwiched in, they work well.
  15. @Stickframe, as @JeroenS says, your suggested build will be fine. Provided the vehicle's primary role is transporting, loading, or carrying, then it is OK here.
  16. Interesting problems Thom, wonder what the solution will look like.
  17. "It Carries Planes!" Very true. I remember a brief discussion about aircraft carriers in chat. An interesting build, it'll make a change from the ground and air vehicles in other builds - and you are adapting the kit to full hull.
  18. Nice work there, I like the way the tarp differs from the body colour.
  19. Looks good, truck chassis can add complexity to a build.
  20. You are doing fine, the build looks good, as does your thread; keep on as you are.
  21. And, some of those parts are small, not easy to tell apart from the risers. (? Or, whatever they are called; the extra nubbins of plastic on the other side of the part from the sprue runner). More progress: The lower hull sides, glacis plate, engine cover, exhaust, and rear axel. Going to start on the PE soon, and then I'll move on to a priming coats ... also need to commit to a colour scheme soon.
  22. @bootneck It was a carrier used while unloading ships. Go for it. OT: will this form part of a larger diorama? I seem to recall you have/had a diorama based on this theme.
  23. Looks good to me, a transporter transporting a transporter. That reminds me of a model I want to build, need to check my own rules...
  24. If this goes ahead, I'll try to source a Chinook, preferably RAF in 1/48
