  1. Hello Everyone ... I added the yellow leading edges and the sky band tonight. Decals tomorrow for both this and my Hurricane build. I have a rather busy week with Doctors, Gov’t. officials, and The wife has Phys. Therapy 2 times this week. Dennis
  2. Hello Martin ... to Britmodeller from the USA. Enjoy the Canary Islands when you get there. Until then enjoy the forum and collecting. If theres anything i can do just ask. Dennis
  3. Excellent work on these ... They wear the best camouflage in my opinion.
  4. Hello Leo ... to Britmodeller from the USA. Looking forward to seeing the Hayabusa. Dennis
  5. Hello Everybody ... Well heres todays update. I sprayed the white today, once done i set-up for the removal of certain areas. My tools are dirt simple, cotton buds, tamiya paint sticks, and a cup of tap water. Once i went through my processes the hurricane wound up looking like this. The nice thing about the hairspray technique is if you mess up you just need to respray the white. Im happy with this i will apply decals soon, then add weathering. Once done i will seal it with a clear satin finish. Dennis
  6. Hello @vppelt68 .. Very much so. 😟 Even though im American, my all time favorite bomber is the Lancaster. Its killing me as of right now not to sign up. Sadly I have a personal moratorium on 4 engine types currently. I just have absolutely no place to store/display them. If that changes i most definitely will be joining. Dennis
  7. Hello everybody After talking with Enzo Matrix The Dates for this group build are from Friday May 29th through Sunday August 30th 2020. Enzo Recommended a special start date for this on a Friday. The reason for this is it will be the 80th Anniversary 🎂 of the Corsair’s 1st ever flight. I agree that this build will be a fitting tribute to a World War 2 and Aviation Icon. Dennis
  8. Ok everybody I have PM’d Enzo for dates. I will post these once they're confirmed. Dennis
  9. Hello @vppelt68 ... Thank you for joining the group build. Im sure we can all help you with that. 😉 As described in the initial post they’re are a # of options as far as variants & markings go. Not including Racing aircraft there were 7 production models with several minor sub-variants. For instance the -1 model had the -1,-1a,-1c, & -1d. The -2 was the nightfighter but it was just a -1 birdcage with a radome on the starboard wing. As for markings there were at least 7 nations possibly more that operated them from 1942-1979. Many of which had different camouflage for the planes. So you're well covered on that avenue as well. Dennis
  10. Hello again you can cover the whole model but i find its not necessary. i usually just spray the areas i plan on roughing up. On this build that will be the upper wings, cowling, and fuselage around the area of the red star & I.D. numbers. I personally spray right from the aerosol can. My daughter abandoned the can im currently using. Though it is possible to de-cant if you prefer, and use an Air-brush to do the same. First I give the model a coat of future, then two coats of hair spray. Let the hair spray dry thoroughly between coats. It acts just like future, if it pools i use a damp cloth to wipe/wick away excess as soon as i see it forming. I then let it all dry overnight. Today i will use blobs of tack or tape masks to cover the areas i intend on leaving free of whitewash. I will spray a coat of white on that is semi-opaque. I then let that dry for 20-30 minutes, once the time is up the fun begins. It feels weird to attack a paintjob personally but i do it. I use an old toothbrush or cotton buds to do the dirty work. I dip whichever tool I'm using into water, and begin to rub the areas i plan on attacking. In this case that will be the cowling panel’s, ammunition covers, walkways, and the cockpit coaming. Any place where the pilot/crew will have rubbed the whitewash away. Like any weathering i do, less is more. My advice to myself for weathering is this. When i say “I think it needs just a little bit more” thats when i stop. I hope this helps in someway ? Dennis
  11. Hello @Hewy, & @Black Knight ... Aboard & Thank you for signing up. Myself and the two co-hosts are looking forward to all of the bent wing builds. Just one more to go and we’re official. Dennis
  12. Hello @John D.C. Masters I used the same technique in my “Geronimo” build earlier this year. I will be glad to answer any questions as well ? Im still somewhat new to the technique, having only used it on about 5 builds so far. I find it works well if done properly. Dennis
  13. Hello @WelshZeCorgi ... Speaking in general since i dont do many armored subjects. I recommend a clearcoat of some sort to protect the paint. If you mess up the weathering you stand a better chance of saving the paint when you remove whatever you’ve done. Since you dont say how much experience with models you have. I will presume some but not a lot. For weathering i recommend you go easy. You can always add to it, but its very hard to remove the weathering. When weathering i use this as a standard. If i think it needs just a little more then STOP !!! Thats usually when it goes from realistic to toy like. I hope this helps and if i can help please reach out and ask. Dennis
  14. Nice looking Firebomber 👍 Ive seen the movie a number of times and you’ve done a good job on your colors & Markings.
