Oh that's alright then its a good job that Gannet SAR is still alive and kicking then using Sea King Mk5.....must be true coz its on the website..LMAO. To be fair there might be other things to worry about....sadly

Hmm I assume the pic is Photo shopped? American weapons eh? Not so sure about that sounds like more expense to me ... US.foreign military sales not cheap still at least the UK will get a some sort of capability back....far too many gaps ...but I'd better shut it before I get on my soapbox

Just mulling this over but the ISTAR budget is limited and I suspect the biggest worry is the upgrade and upkeep of sentry it is probably higher up the priority list.....but then I'm not in UK air defence....just something to think about

No offence to that branch....for they give our leaders hugs and tuck them in bed.....then get down the messdeck with as much free scoff as they can aqquire and we can eat.....but never never upset them coz they will neck a beer fridge when you are on watch as revenge.

if the answer was 'Typhoon', they must have asked the wrong question Hmm well I guess that might be true clearly you know about such contracts but the onus in todays market is on the vendor not to sell a donkey.Advise and service support is part of the deal.....i know this because because i work in the support side of the industry having been on the other side of the fence. So to say that the wrong question was asked is well daft in my opinion. Typhoon T 1 is a good aircraft and i do believe that it was the austrians who recently had to bale out the swiss who were off watch or something. If the support contract was badly executed or the metrics were wrong then that is something of a joint problem to fix. At least it is the basis of a good aircraft other platform user dont have thst. As for the grippen look at the users and potential users thst surround austria....you can see why the idea has legs ..

Yep understood wasnt being funny. Spookily enough I worked apache at wattisham to...first job as a strawberry😮

Whilst i understand what you are up to it is unlikely that rotors would be engaged with ground power attached. The ground power starts the apu which then uses hp air to start the engines. Well thats one method

Hah nearly as expensive as the real thing hope its the correct part no

I was having a mooch about VL this evening with the boy prior to airday...cant believe how dinky a grippen is.....perhaps we need a few standfast ETPS

Getting world class kit or even home grown world class kit isnt the problem. Its the spares and through life support that is the problem

This aĺl sounds out of proportion to me.....its a perk its not like its never been done before.Im impressed that a senior officer is still qualified....wouldnt happen here😐Not that small helicopters havent been used. I remember when there were regular spare seats on jetstreams to prestwick....before that (and my time) there was the Heron clipper that used to do a round trip of all the air stations.....we had more than two. Alpha jet is a very simple aircraft as well take anything else and it might go u/s with a three week lead time for spares....bit embarrassing 😳
