  1. The wings are on now - not an easy task! Unfortunately, the wings themselves were thicker than the roots moulded onto the fuselage sides. I've reduced the wing thickness by careful sanding, but this has removed some surface detail and exposed new bubbles within the resin. Those of you who've made 'classic' resin kits will recognise this scenario! I'm happy with the result now though. Next up - those impressive u/c legs. Cheers
  2. Full marks for resurrecting this interesting project!
  3. Absolutely, and a scheme that remained essentially unchanged for 14 years!
  4. A quick update, with the cockpits complete and the fuselage closed up. I just used the kit's resin parts for the contents of the cockpits, plus some PE harnesses from my spares box. It all went together very easily .
  5. Right, it's time to give this one some attention. I've got model club tomorrow night, so there'll probably be an opportunity for some casual fettling of parts. This will be my first modern generation 1/43 car kit from Airfix. I've built a few similar from Heller and by comparison this one looks somewhat simpler, but more nicely moulded. Disappointingly, there's no RHD option. It should be an easy conversion though, helped by the instruments being provided as decals . Cheers
  6. Thanks jch. I was aware of the vehicle's history but hadn't seen that particular photograph 👍 Interestingly, every photograph that I've seen of this type of fire engine (not just the Coventry one), shows a dark, possibly black, bonnet. This applies even to photos taken in Edwardian times. I'm not sure where the idea of silver has come from? Cheers
  7. I do like your choice of subjects Dennis
  8. That removable cabin roof panel is interesting, isn't it Dennis? It looks like it's just been laid loose on top of the wing for safe keeping. Maybe it was removable to allow the crew to stand up while manoeuvring a stretchered patient into position? I'm not sure that you'd have to remove it, just to allow the door to open? Good luck with however you deal with it 👍
  9. This is looking very smart!
  10. It has been a fabulous Group Build. For some reason, I always particularly enjoy my first GB of the New Year and this one has been no exception. Thank you @Roland Pulfrew and @Col.
  11. Thank you @81-er @Billy54 and @jackroadkill for your support. I must admit to particularly looking forward to this one!
  12. Thanks Steve. Yes. I'm undecided too. Definitely not BRG though - I've already got too many of those in my cabinet!
  13. Very true! I had a Mamod traction engine too . Meanwhile, I feel that I'm getting closer now to getting the fire engine finished. Notably absent is the bonnet. I wasn't totally happy with the paint finish, so it's now soaking in oven cleaner prior to a re-paint. Other than that, it's really just the escape (aka ladder), that needs attention - plus a few important final details, like the bell! Cheers
  14. I'm building the same Steve What colour are you going for? Cheers
