  1. H Mark, thanks for the heads-up. It's the second cockpit I was concerned with and have had a reply to the question from the guys on 849 NAS FB page. The second cockpit had flight instruments but no controls. I was already aware the rear cabin had a second seat. I can now progress with my build. Colin
  2. Hi Nick. I have five sheets of which, you are welcome to two. I don't want anything for them or the postage. I will post but need your address (message me) our post office system is all but broken. I'll post but no guarantees you will get them! I will 'hold thumbs'! Colin
  3. Oh, the Frog Shackleton, an essay in rivets. I have a long held belief, that if you wish to sand off all the rivets, then you must do it at one sitting. Otherwise, they will grow back overnight! That said, it was, in it's day a great kit. Down her in South Africa, the modeller were possessed with having one in their collection. Sadly, many never achieved it! In reflection, I'm surprised that Airfix never continued with their MR2 into an MR 3. That is another story! I'm liking the way you are tackling the build. Colin
  4. Ugly it is! Tat moment of the engine buried so far back ! However, it looks like an very interesting project. Colin
  5. Neat work, you have done a lot to get to this stage. However, you say Aquilon? The Froggy jobbie (Scottish work for anything without another description) but are you building one of those or a local one? For the Froggy jobbie, Model Art produced a set of decals for another French producer. I have a few sets in my decal stash if you have a need. That is unless, I' totally off track? Which at present, isn't too hard to achieve! Colin
  6. Sorry guys, we were away last week, giving our adventure trailer an outing. Took me a couple of days to get back in the groove but, there has ben progress. I shot Tamiya Glass white on the underside and then masked that off (tedious)! Shot the EDSG over the upper parts and then a coat of gloss Humbrol varnish (?). At present, I'm applying the decals, Model Art with some of the original kit roundels. It will be a mix, the Model Art, aren't the best, so a supplement with the very old kit decals was required! Photos to follow, when I have all the decals on... Colin
  7. COD, never unglamorous! However, As I'm on a CAD Gannet build, I thought you were being disingenuous to the Fairey product. Now, I've had a gander I see you are looking at Grumman's product. You gotta' love the shape and these cabs did sterling service bring replacement crew and much needed stores to the ships. I mastered the ID Models fuselage from a very old issue of IPMS USA Journal back in the late 1970's, so I have an infinity with the type. In my collection I have a built mode from a late friend. I gave him a spare set of fus, halves. I needs TLC> I doo fancy the 48th ship, so will follow your build with interest. Long, too long time since I was in Singapore... Colin
  8. Congratulations. I'm not a civvie airliner fan but the rock subject grabbed my attention. You did a lot of work to wrestle this into shape. I like the use of cocktail sticks for temp u/c struts. I never add the u/c until the end. The end result is amazing! Colin
  9. I'm building a COD Gannet (Mk4) from the Airfix 48th kit. My question is, was the second cockpit fully fitted as the front on, ie, full instrumentation and controls. I have two sets of the Eduard cockpit detail sets to fit then both out, should that be necessary. Pilots notes might show this up but I don't have assess to one. Just in case, I have asked the question over on the 849 NAS FB page. Thanks in advance. Colin
  10. Ooooh! I do like the 'quilting on the wings and the fabric effect on the fuselage. If the Fleet Air Arm had some, I might be tempted to build one! Painting coming along very nicely. Colin
  11. Liking the interior and the tail boom riveting, very effective... I have an Alaskan Rescue ship on hold, I was hoping to get details of the rescue gear in the cabin but nothing yet! Colin
  12. Living dangerously again Martin... Colin
  13. Brown sauce! Sounds like a bastardisation of the dish to me. Why not add extra chili to spice it up? Brown sauce on bacon or egg sarnies only! By the way, neat work with the pen, looks great and must have saved you hours? Colin
  14. What a tedious job. I think you should have cut a thousand small squares of masking tape! Ha, ha, ha! Maybe a Posca acrylic hard nib pen would have done the job? Next time. And then, as if by magic... Colin
  15. Hi Reine. I was away on holiday last week, so just catching up with your progress. Looking good. Colin
