  1. Great effort brings back lots of memories TACEVAL and MAXEVAL to name but a few exercises carried out each year. With regards to Laarbruch I was stationed there 85 - 88 as part of the RAF Police Sqn. We had SLR not SMG they were phased out in 84 and we were in CS85 combat clothing whilst on Airfield Security. Tornado's arrived at Laarbruch during 84 with 15Sqn initially followed by 16Sqn and then 20Sqn, 2Sqn retained their Jaguars till after I left in 88
  2. Thanks a lot for all the comments My brother was as you all said well chuffed. John W yes I did notice that the stood soldier had the 58 webbing yolk fitted as it has come from the earlier Tamiya Series 3 Landy kit, I left off the pouches deliberately to help "Camouflage" the fact he was from an earlier era. To much bother to try and remove the Yolk without damaging the rest of the figure so painted straight over it, hoped it would not show to much but us Anoraks know better, As an ex RAF Policeman I wore CS 95 a lot so I did know the difference. As a side note I built this kit whilst convale
  3. Built this straight from the box with a few deletions and additions. The vehicle represents a Land Rover 110 Defender from 250 Medical Squadron Territorial Army based at Westward Ho Barracks Grimsby. My brother learned to drive in this vehicle before his deployment to Kosovo during the Balkan crisis in 2000. The model is a 50th Birthday present to him from me. Hope you like my first attempt at military vehicles the driver and the soldier stood are both from the Tamiya 1/35 Land Rover Ambulance kit, the tarpaulin back is made from some cloth used for curtains I bought it from a local shop u
  4. Ian at Heritage Aviation Models does a 1/48 Wessex update and correction kit in resin and he has a 1/48 scale resin kit being tooled up as we speak. Can vouch for the correctin kit have one my self just need the Revell Wessex kit to go with it, might get one at RAF Waddington Airshow this June. Hope this helps Colin
  5. Update for you all the reunion and Memorial went great PA474 did 3 fly pasts the last at approx 400' very very low we also had a visit from the BBMF Dakota. Weather was great blue skies and sunshine what more could you ask for. The Lancaster diorama was very well received and the Late Navigators wife Mrs Pat Pearson was very touched by the accuracy and detail. Many of the veterans commented favorably and hopefully will get some more commissions from it. So overall a great day was had by all. Many thanks. Colin Maclachlan
  6. Many heart felt thanks to you all for the kind comments hope it goes down as well with the 166Sqn Veterans. As for the scale it is 1/72 it is the old Airfix kit with a lot of scratch building in the cockpit and entrance area, the decals are from Aeroscale and the Austin K6 Crew bus is from BW Models of Turriff near Aberdeen it is a white metal kit. I have had quite a few of his kits over the last couple of years and can recommend them, he does British military vehicles from WWII to 90's, the aircrew figures are from the Revell range. The paints used are Xtracrylics. Thank you all. Colin Mac
  7. Hi chaps just finished my first commission a Memorial Dedication to the crew of PA179 AS-A Lancaster Mk1 of 166Sqn RAF Kirmington Lincolnshire (now Humberside Int Airport). The Aircraft was shot down with the loss of all the crew on board on Feb21/22 1945 over Germany. I have been asked to produce this memorial as I am a Warrant Officer Instructor with 866(Immingham ) ATC Sqn, and we look after the Remembrance Parade and Memorial for 166Sqn. We will be presenting the Model to the wife of the Navigator Flt Sgt CE Miller, who will then hand it over to the Museum for 166Sqn at the Marrowbone &a

  10. Hi Paul great build watching with baited breath. Have bought the Revell 1/32 EC-145 with the German Police setup including Nitesun etc I am also doing it in UK Police colours thanks for the ford Galaxy Blue but what is the yellow reference. 11. Can anyone help please I need the colour references for the yellow and dark blue colour scheme used by the UK Police Force Air Support Unit Helicopters. I have just bought the Revell EC-145 1/32 scale Helicopter and its brilliant. I have decided to do it in UK Police colours as it comes with surveillance kit and Ive just bought a set of 1/32 decals for the Met Police EC-145 from ebay Germany. Will post build as it progresses. Many thanks in advance. Colin866.
  12. Guys your comments are greatfully received. Many thanks. I hope I can keep the level of accuracy up. As for measurements just go on Google Earth and use there virtual ruler for measurements and if your lucky enough to own a railway modelers steel scale ruler it does the conversion for you OO Gauge = 4mm to the foot i.e 1/76 scale close enough for 1/72 or N Gauge = 2mm to the foot i.e approx 1/144 scale.
  13. Hi Guys my first attempt at posting. Just joined Britmodeller today. Comments please on my interpretation of a Coningsby HAS and 29Sqn Typhoon T1[img The HAS is made of 3mm Foam card as used by signwriters heated and formed on a Jig. The front door is also made from foam card and Evergreen plastic. The interior is made from 8mm plastic tubing used as brake pipe in the HGV commercial vehicle braking system. Lighting is from 3mm yellow LED's to replicate sodium lights and a red flashing LED to represent the rotating beacon to warn the door is opening. Vehicles are a mixture of White m
