AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) This will be my build for the Group Build. SBD-3 Dauntless of VS2 USS Lexington, Battle of the Coral Sea 8th May 1942. My friend Mike Mcellaney will be building S-11 of Scouting 2 and mine will be S-8 I will be using the lovely Trumpeter 1:32 Dauntless kit, mostly out of the OOB with a little scratch enhancements, a mix of Mondex masks and Yellowhammer decals. Looking forward to starting this one... Edited November 16, 2011 by Mish

AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Nice. Are you and Mike going to get the finished builds together for photo's? We're really hoping to, we have a cunning plan
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Ace Mish, I think the Dauntless is one of Trumpeters finest - should be a fun build! Iain
Stakka Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I recently built this model, my first Trumpeter as well, I really enjoyed it and it is a great looking model. I'll be sure to check this one out - enjoy !
Bertie McBoatface Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Nice one Mish, loads of creative scope in that one!
AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 One minute past midnight tonight we can start, will I be awake?
AnonymousDFB1 Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 Well the first job was to fill the ejector pin marks on the back of the pilots bulkhead Trumpeter mistake #1 They show the rear position as having the emergency joystick in it's stowed and operating positions. As it was normally stowed, I'm chopping it off. I've drilled out the hole where it should go as well. Everything ready for paint And painted/assembled And dirtied up IP taking shape More tomorrow as I'm off out for dinner...
avro683 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Nice one Mish, that looks a great kit. Enjoy your dinner. Tony
