This will be my build for the Group Build. SBD-3 Dauntless of VS2 USS Lexington, Battle of the Coral Sea 8th May 1942.

My friend Mike Mcellaney will be building S-11 of Scouting 2 and mine will be S-8

I will be using the lovely Trumpeter 1:32 Dauntless kit, mostly out of the OOB with a little scratch enhancements, a mix of Mondex masks and Yellowhammer decals.

Nice. Are you and Mike going to get the finished builds together for photo's?

Ace Mish,

I think the Dauntless is one of Trumpeters finest - should be a fun build!

I recently built this model, my first Trumpeter as well, I really enjoyed it and it is a great looking model.

I'll be sure to check this one out - enjoy !

Well the first job was to fill the ejector pin marks on the back of the pilots bulkhead

Trumpeter mistake #1

They show the rear position as having the emergency joystick in it's stowed and operating positions. As it was normally stowed, I'm chopping it off.

I've drilled out the hole where it should go as well.
