Seamus Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Blimey, you're not messing about with this one Mish Very swift progress, that cockpit looks very nice indeed Being a big fan of the Crusader, I'll be watching this one with added interest
turnerdad Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Interested to know what the kit is like. Good start by the way.
AnonymousFO98 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hi Mish off to a flying start! love the Crusader. Must get one some time. are those state of the art pink and blue parts holders or the things you stick between your toes to paint nails i love the ways in which modellers find new and imaginative use for household items.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Interested to know what the kit is like. Good start by the way. I believe it's the old Monogram kit Nick. Spot on Walrus, there is always some in cheap nail care kits that I pilfer the sanding boards from.
AntPhillips Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I believe it's the old Monogram kit Nick. Raided panel lines Hi Mish, Great work so far, I love the Monogram Crusader. the kit is good OOB, there are a couple of faults in the basic kit though, the ejection seat provided is a MB GRU-7 as used in the Tomcat, it is the wrong type for a Crusader which originally had a MB Mk. F5 seat although some were later fitted with a Mk. F7 seat, the seat from a Phantom looks a closer match than the Tomcat seat. Also the main undercarriage legs are set at the wrong angle resulting in the finished kit sitting too low at the rear when built, Aeroclub do a correction set to cure this or you can just shorten the lower oleo and bend the upper oleo down to raise the rear fuselage off the deck. Having said that the kit looks good out of the box even without the corrections. Keep the photo's coming. Ant

AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Bit more construction done this afternoon. Should be ready for paint tomorrow.
zero Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) Bit more construction done this afternoon.Should be ready for paint tomorrow. Jez I thought I built quick. Nice work. looks really nice so far I used to have one of these before steping up to 1/32 only, so Now I'd like to get a trumpeter one in the stash Seems a bit easier build for you, than the Sea Harrier. AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Thanks Dave, I'm enjoying the build the SHAR has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment .
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 All masked up, preshaded and ready for spraying. Just got to put on and mask the cockpit.
Stebos Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Looking forward to seeing this one with some paint on!
Tigerausfb Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Crumbs you're fast! Takes me two weeks just to open the box and look at the sprues Andy
Julien Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Mish, Looking good. Have you got a correction set for the main gear as it sits too low otherwise. Not too noticable but also kind of noticable. If you have not shoot me a PM as I have a few spares. Julien

Julien I haven't Julian and I've cemented the U/C legs in now they're not coming out in a hurry as it's a one piece part.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 Top surface grey airbrushed on today.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Finally got around to doing a little more on this one tonight. I've 'touched' up the grey and applied a little post shading and tried to give it that work look. No pics as the lighting washes out the subtle shading.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Got a bit more done this morning. All the underside is sprayed white and the tailpipe has been sprayed up with Citadel Boltgun and I've attempted to add some heat discolouration bands.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Painting all finished and a coat of Klear/Future on ready for decaling tomorrow.
Seamus Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 lovely job so far Mish, good to see you've got her back on the bench
AnonymousDFB1 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Only half a days work today. Got the most of the underside, top and port side decaled. Decals are nice and thing but it has taken quite a few coats of Microsol to get them to conform over the raised panel lines and detail.
