Enzo the Magnificent
My three builds in this GB are going pretty swimmingly. I have completed major construction and painting on all of them, well before I thought I would. Add to that the fact that Gideon has just informed me that I only have fourteen concurrent builds, which will fall to ten in a couple of weeks. So, if you'll indulge me, I'd like to throw another 1/48 Tiger I into the mix. The previous three are all Tamiya. As a contrast, this will be from AFV Club.
Enzo the Magnificent
Let's look at the parts. The first thing I noticed is that the zimmerit is moulded onto the parts. The tracks are plastic and there is a fret of PE anti-grenade grilles for the rear decking. AFV Club produce a set of workable track links for this kit. However in 1/48, that sounds like a recipe for insanity...
SimonT
I look forwarded to this one too. I have 2 in the stash 😎 I have their workable tracks too, very fragile, be warned! Edited May 1 by SimonT

To misquote Douglas Adams, the mere thought of using them hadn't even begun to speculate about the slightest possibility of crossing my mind.
Stef N.
Well, I didn't know they made smaller scale kits. Should be good.👍

Muchmirth
Ah nice one Enzo. This one is on my build list so would like to see what you make of it. Paul

I can tell you that it builds up as quickly and easily as the Tamiya kits. This was no more than 45 minutes work. AFV Club don't provide ballast like Tamiya do, so I bunged 70g of ballast weights in the lower hull.

Enzo the Magnificent
Primed using grey plastic car primer from a rattle can. The grey really shows the zimmerit.
Keeff
Is this in the right group build? It's more of a blitz build! 🤣 Nice looking kit though ... Keith 😁

It would be perfectly feasible to complete both this kit and the Tamiya Tigers in a Blitzbuild. In fact I built the Tamiya 1/48 Crusader tank in a Blitzbuild a few years ago.
Retired Bob
Quick work indeed with this Tiger, I didn't know AFV Club made 1/48th scale fighting vehicles. Too late for me to change from 1/35th.
Enzo the Magnificent
Sprayed with Tamiya XF-88 Dark Yellow. The wheels were sprayed with the same colour. The wheels were then attached. Each wheelset together with the sprockets and idlers is attached using a tiny screw. It's quite a novelty for me to build a kit using a screwdriver. A close up. The screw heads are then covered with plastic blanking plates. The camouflage mottle was then sprayed with Tamiya XF-89 and XF-90.
Muchmirth
I like this even more now I see the screws to hold the wheels on, solves any wheel alignment issues.

sampanzer
I like this a lot, the screws holding the wheels in alignment is a great idea.. Zimmerit looks great under paint too...
Enzo the Magnificent Posted Wednesday at 16:54 Author Share Posted Wednesday at 16:54 The tracks are of the rubber band type, but in this case they respond well to superglue and they hold paint well. I primed the tracks with clear lacquer from a rattle can followed by a coat of grey plastic car primer, also from a rattle can. I then painted them with Vallejo Panzer Aces track primer.
