Dinner on the Front - Project Abandoned, photos lost.

Recommended Posts

Oh go on then Enzo. I can't stand the nagging anymore. I'll be building a bento box of a diorama, with four lads and the Boss enjoying a Christmas feast within the sound of the guns.

(Great escape style due to the needs of the dog.)

Photo to phollow.

It's Christmas dinner on the western front from their point of view.

I ordered this kit a couple of years ago to take an order into the free postage zone. I wasn't really very impressed when it arrived and I haven't looked at it since. But it seems perfect for this blitz build and it would be good to get rid of the damn thing.

Being mini art, there's plenty of sprues to play with.

Does anybody recognize these helmets? I think it might be the Romanian fire brigade. 😂

If I can paint it as well as the box art it won't look half bad.

And this is the box that I'll build the diorama in. I don't think I'll have time to fill the whole area of the box with diorama details so I'll cut it down and just use a corner.

Six four hour shifts should see that one off fairly comfortably.

It will be really nice to have someone to talk to over the holiday.

I had a bunch of WWI Tommies firmly in my mind's eye for no apparent reason that I can see now. Looks like a great kit - I've always wanted to try a MiniArt figure or two but I never seem to get out of 1/72.

Would you be tempted to cut a window into one of the sides of the box?

Regards,

Adrian

The Christmas Truce of 1914 is probably in your mind.

I can't listen to this without a tissue. Be warned!

Like an old fashioned 3D diorama? Yes, that has crossed my mind. I have some micro LEDS too... I probably can't do that in the GB but later maybe.

I can't stop thinking about it now.

Peephole at one end.

Scene in the middle.

Battery behind false wall at the far end.

Dim atmospheric lighting.

The box is just about the right size.

Maybe a false floor so the roof seems lower and the viewpoint is low down and interesting.. .

What do you think?

It is meant to be a blitzbuild remember!

In case you were wondering:

Take a chilled can of ready made custard and mix it with about half the quantity of cold milk. Add amaretto liqueur to taste. Drink. Enjoy. Regret. 😉

Nice with a packet of biscuits and a good cigar.

didn't I get a little overexcited last night

Aaah, I thought I'd sold you on it! Well, it's another "one that got away" fisherman's tale for me.... "I'd used diorama-window bait and a number 7 hook. He was this big" (hands wave arms outstretched)

;)

Adrian (stupid and sober)

I'm all set for the mornink.

For the whole weekend actually. The Southern Comfort is for a post lunchtime drink, to aid the digestion of whatever ready meal falls out of the freezer. The Cointreau is for teatime. The Drambuie is for my last drink of the night before bedtime. The Disaronno is unlikely to be used unless I wake up in the night. So I'm sure you can all work out when I drink Warninks Advocaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!

But what's this?

It seems there's an unannounced guest at the Christmas dinner table. How strange...

Ah, Advocaat. The drink my Aunts loved at Christmas mixed with lemonade to make a snowball - once tasted, never forgotten. I'll be treating myself to a tot of Talisker at some stage, but don't tell @JOCKNEY , it might disturb my attempts at rigging the Fokker.
