bianfuxia
This is one that the mods kindly said I could contribute to the build - started but only the fuselage joined and the wings added. I will use this random China Eastern sheet I picked up on taobao. I had to get two in the end because the first didn't have the proper tail logo. I flew on a plane with this scheme though I can't find the photo.
bianfuxia
Hard to tell in this picture but the wings now have a first coat of paint:
pinky coffeeboat
That's a nice scheme. The purple or orange China Eastern peacock scheme is one I'm considering for my Zvezda 737 entry. Looking forward to following this. Jeff

Jeff It's cool huh - the Chinese airlines do specialise in this type of scheme.
bianfuxia
Nothing to show in this or my other builds but I've been doing some sanding here and there. We're about to go away and it's my kid's third birthday tomorrow so needless to say modeling has taken a back seat the last few days!

Yes, the Chinese carriers seem to really embrace these decorated aircraft. Looking at China Easterns new colours a couple of years ago, it's easy to see why they would - so dull and bland...just like Lufthansa new colours! bianfuxia
Yeah I much prefer the older China Eastern with the big red stripe than the totally white one with just the little bird logo. I got the email yesterday from Lufthansa about their new tail - gotta say I was both underwhelmed with the design and bewildered by the decision! bianfuxia
Well, like my other build this one is here, ready for the spray can on the weekend. After that my threads will be a bit more distinguishable as it will soon be decal time.
bianfuxia
Finally found a little time to work on this... Decals are still wet with Mr Mark Softer. This is all I can do tonight, hopefully more tomorrow. I haven't finished painting everything but sometimes it's easier to decal than paint, so there we go.
bianfuxia
For those interested, the writing 中國東方航空 says China Eastern Aviation 中國 means China, and is written in traditional Chinese as opposed to the simplified Chinese actually used in the PRC (in which it would be written: 中国) 東方 means eastern; the first character means east and the second one makes it east-ern, or of the east. In simplified it is: 东方 航空 means aviation. The romanization is Zhongguo Dongfang Hangkong. To pronounce it, assuming most of you have English accents, try it like this: joong gwoh doong fung hung koong. In all the words with oo in them the oo is a long sound like Oolong tea. Not like in the English word doom or loom but more like Jung in German (like in Karl Jung...). Anyway that's just out of interest. It's slow going with this decal sheet!

bianfuxia
Getting there slowly. I have to go to Hong Kong on Wednesday until the end of the weekend so I won't get much done this week but the good thing about this kind of decal work is that you can make some progress even in ten or 15 minutes. So I might get a little further along. I must remember to build the engines and put them on! I have a really nice JAL 777-300ER sitting on my shelf completely finished...except for the engines!
bianfuxia
I finished the left side of this just now, and started on the right side. Turns out that by the door at the front there is a faint grey marking saying Boeing 737-800 which neither of the sheets have. Never mind. I'll take a pic when it's light - it's nearly the middle of the night. Great looking progress in some of the other ongoing builds!
bianfuxia
This is where I am up to...one side finished and the other side only just begun. Sorry for the crappy photo. Meanwhile: No. it's not the rarely-seen four engined 737-1000 haha. But the other two are for my other Air China one.
Grandboof
Great livery . Looking forward to the finished model . Is there a brand name for the decals you are using ? Martin H
bianfuxia
No, I don't know the brand name of that sheet. It has nothing printed on it and came in a plain envelope. I found it by searching for the Chinese word for decals against 1/200 on www.taobao.com...just got lucky.

I don't have a lot of experience with after market decals. They seem to work, is the main thing! Here's tonight's progress. I think I will definitely get this one finished in time for the end. Apart from the decals I also worked on the u/c tonight. Another couple of hours and this one is done. Romeo Alpha Yankee
Laser printer decals are on continuous film, so you need to cut out each decal individually before soaking. Mainstream kit supplied decals are screen printed as 'islands' on a sheet so the surrounding film is 1-2mm and you don't have to be as accurate with cutting the decal out.
