corsaircorp Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Hello Dears, Before anything said, I wish you and your family a happy and wealthy new year , may 2017 bring you the actual realisation of your Dreams I must confess that I'm a serial starter, I can stay month and even years in some case without finishing a model, and then in a given time, I will have 3, 4 or 5 kits out in a few weeks. Sometimes I speak with a friend about an Aircraft, or see her on the web, and I go to my attic (my own private shop) pick up a box or two and have a go. I've started the Airfix PR XIX weeks ago, trying to duplicate the cameras, As I bought the ICM Spitfire HF VII in a bashed box containing the HF VII, a XVI and parts from a IX, I also casually start the Mk XVI. The HF VII is finished, opening the way for the XVI, See, The Eduard Mk IX will be finished in a few weeks, tool late for a WIP on the right, the wings of the Mk XVI and her interior. On the left lie the PR XIX, I use the Airfix parts to make parts for my PR XI and PR I conversions. Still the rocker cover are a little bit undersized, but the exhaust rack seem to be at the right place. Here's a comparison between the Spinners from Quickboost, Airfix and Barracudacast The Quickboost one is made to compensate the too large spinner plate from the Academy XIV, I will check it and cross check with the Seafire .17 Another side and long term project, turning a Monogram A-1H into a AD-4NA from korean war. That mean erasing all the armour plates and engrave it according to the plans and photos, there is a Tamiya A-1H started aside but not many modifications Almost from the box No, never believe me when I tell such a thing The Meteor transkit is made for the Tamiya, and did'nt correspond to the Monogram, so I did it old school modelling, after all, I'm not a rabbit of the year Ok, more in the future... There still is the Mk IX, the Eduard Mk VIII, an Hasegawa Typhoon and a F-94C that are at the painting room... Have a nice evening, quiet after yesterday excesses.... Sincerely. Corsaircorp 5
Bandsaw Steve Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 So how long before someone, (say aitfix) does a decent1/48 spitfire XIV do you reckon? Everyone knows the academy one is seriously flawed and the XIV is just so cool it's disappointing there's no high quality modern kit availble. Your posted work is looking good by the way. 😄 2
corsaircorp Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Hello Reconcilor, Let's say, I do not know. There has been the same problem with the Mk IX. The Occidental and Hasegawa were not right, the Otaki was good in shape and dimension but lacked the underside gullwing, and it was a Mk VIII Then came the ICM, pretty accurate kit but the adjustments were ... Let's say Rock'n Roll And Eduard gave us a wonderfull kit, both Mk IX late and early, then a Mk VIII, with lots of optional parts (some of these get stuffed in my ICM kits The issue with the Airfix kits are up to any and each modeller. Today, Airfix tend to make kits through the LIDAR device. So there will no longer be any issues, there is some Mk XIV in UK and we've got 2 in Belgium. So the 1/1 model is present, we just have to pray for St Airfix to give us a good Lidarised Mk XIV With all the infos and stuff collected in so a short time through BM, I would have changed my alias. I will be a Spitfire SIG... Thank for the kind words about my work I will look if it is possible to me to make correction kits for the Seafire 17, and the PR XIX if necessary. But even with a brand new Airfix Mk XIV, I will do and correcting my FYDTRYITVLIUGG Hobbycraft kits Thank again. Corsaircorp 3
corsaircorp Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 Hello Dears, One evening off from the job and then 4 evening working on the highway.. I've worked on my PR XIX, Fw-190F-8 and my Corsairs Here are some pics PR XIX fuselage fit right to the plan, that's good. I've turned a little bit of a paranoïd about Spitfire dimensions Better, look, The exhaust line is also right at his place, see the arrow In the fifties, the lower part of the cockpit was still interior green and up higher seem to be black. But the notice say all the cockpit interior green Any advice ??? Here we go with the camera's compartment for the PR XI, the PR I and the Seafire 17. It is finally usefull to have some projects running side by side. See yoo later, at the week end I think. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 4
Christer A Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 One can never have enough Spitfires... Looks good! 2
corsaircorp Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Hi Christer, It's about 50/50 in between Spit/Seafire and Corsair... Unbelievable for me ! Thank for the kind words. Corsaircorp
corsaircorp Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 Hello Dears, Some news from my little private assembly line, Obviously, I'm not as productive as the boss of the 1/72 Castle Bromwich assembly line. Can't compete with Mr Procopius, I don't even try The rocker covers of the XIX are erased and here's the assembled and almost finished wing of the XVI The Mk IX is still the same, the F3F-2 is finished, the next sailor's bird is almost ready for a RFI and then there will be a german driver's nightmare. I really like this bird even if she never made it to a carrier deck, Nobody's perfect after all !! Thank for watching. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 4
corsaircorp Posted February 26, 2017 Author Posted February 26, 2017 Hello Dears, I received a citytrip as a Christmas gift for Mrs CC and me and look... Look like typically british countryside, so Cambridgeshire ??? As one can know that Duxford is a mecca for me ?? And now Sir Winston himself .. Any idea ?? Nope, it's Kobenhavn I found a deed from a great philosoph, up there, the man who tell and write it is clever I will scratch som styrene tomorrow and then a full week of evening work Good only for my income... Have a nice day, friends Sincerely. Corsaircorp 7
Bandsaw Steve Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 My family and I recently took our summer holidays in Denmark. Denmark, Western Australia! 😀 It's a real place! Google it if you don't believe me! 😊 Love be that photo of the cathedral. I sometimes do a bit of landscape painting...hmmmmm...🤔 3
corsaircorp Posted February 27, 2017 Author Posted February 27, 2017 I can send the photos of that anglican Church if it can help you. I really enjoyed the trip, 2 days, it was short but... For me that is 900Km far only Do not hesitate if you want. Sincerely. Corsaircorp
corsaircorp Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 Starck, Lanister, Spring is coming, and I'm glad. Here's some news from RNZAF Spitfire, White, sand and grey parts from ICM, was a mash up, plus Eduard bonus parts, will be a patchwork And I must confess that I cought once again for a red box One more for my little personal hobby shop, I think that I will "Paint it black" Have a nice night Sincerely. Corsaircorp 2
corsaircorp Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 Hello dears, Nice modelling evening today, I worked on some kits, The Mk XVI is closed but some persuasive means is needed and the Korean Skyraider is on her way too, No more armour on this side, no more airbrakes, smooth as a baby skin (Knowing that baby can be replaced by anything you are thinking about) Okay gents, Back again for my evening work week, no more models or just a little bit, See you later. Have a nice week, full of whatever you like, or need plus some plastic of course. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 4
SleeperService Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 That Spitfire is starting to look good, point about the fuselage noted. I've got a similar issue and shoved my effort into the Shelf of Doom while I worked out what I'd done wrong. It's still there! That Skyraider has cleaned up nicely. An interesting contrast to the Spitfire. 1
corsaircorp Posted March 15, 2017 Author Posted March 15, 2017 Thank you sleeper, The Mk VII has some issues too, I like ICM Spits, not too expensive, good deal of details.... But, not the easiest to build, more as you put her on a good plan, shape and dimensions are accurate. So it was worth the effort, before the arrival of Eduard spitfires The Able dog will now receive her doors, then modifying antennas and underwing pylons to have an AD-4NA. Thank for the kind words. Sincerely. Corasircorp 2
corsaircorp Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 Nice evening of modeling today. Lots of little thing have been done on some kits. Stencils and decals on my very next RFI, masking one of the next RFI, more stunning and different. And Spitfiring of course, here is usual ICM assembly on my Mk XVI Trenches on the Karmann, I said Mark XVI, not 1916 I found another sink, one on each side Natürlich ! where would be the pleasure ?? Closing the belly is funny too Look a little bit better now And now some shot of the would be family I feel that I grew bored of Spitfire... Mk IX, will get back to Mk I and V for the next ones There is also the 2 Mk VIII, and the PR XIX, and that old project started in 2015, a FR 47 and a F 24. Yes, back to basics seem a good plan. See you later. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 4
Bandsaw Steve Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Remember, there's no such thing as too many Spitfires!☑️ 2
corsaircorp Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Will never say again "I'm bored by Spitfire" Will never say again "I'm bored by Spitfire" Will neva say again..... Won't waste time, I prefer trying to improve my Sweet sixteen... Did'nt she look better after some polishing ?? I will now engrave the panel lost in the battle... Epic battle I was fearing the worst with My Mk VIII, there has been a chemical reaction but the fixing will be easy. Never use blue tack again, lots of never in this thread So the CR C is again on her way to RFI To be continued ... Sincerely. Corsaircorp 4
Christer A Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Leftover Spitfire-parts should be a box or five in any respectable stash... Coming along nicely! 1
corsaircorp Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 Hello Christer and reconcilor, Not to mention the resin parts for Spitfire. I can make acomplete spit with the leftover only. And there are the early marks.... As I show it in another thread, here's my dog, Forbidden for her to came in when I'm modelling She work as a mantrailer with Mrs CC there was an exam for her last week end in Bonn Can you imagine how she can clean the chair with that Corsair box on it. Wagging tail from a Dogge is a solid brush !! Not to mention her big head coming on the table. She is the worst carpet monster since she also find the tiny parts that fell from the table Look that angel face ! But forget about the tiny now engulfed part Have a very nice day. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 11
corsaircorp Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 Hello Dears, Just a funny add, did'nt know that there has been this... Seriously Orange and blue fin flash and orange meatball !!! And this is not for a Dutch Spitfire Will find some roundels and fin flash on other decal sheet. Luckilly the fern leaf is black... All Black Yes, I must admit that I like the blacks too. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 2
Christer A Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Orange and blue might be for a SAAF Spitfire? They had some funky colors IIRC... 1
Bandsaw Steve Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Yes . Looks Afrikaans orange to me. Nice to see an RNZAF option, NZ is still 'home' to me. 1
corsaircorp Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 1 hour ago, Reconcilor said: Yes . Looks Afrikaans orange to me. Nice to see an RNZAF option, NZ is still 'home' to me. Hello, Precisely, I'll make the RNZAF one at Fassberg. No, there's no SAAF bird on the decal sheet, a polish, a New Zealander and 2 brits. Just a miss from the printer. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 1
corsaircorp Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 Hello dears, I will not put the engine in, enough of sanding and adjusting... I use some plastic from unused member cards, but I think that it don't melt too well. The sink on the tail was very deep on this side, I used some plasticard. Still going at her pace... Have a nice day. Sincerely. Corsaircorp 7
