I am coming to final painting.

Following that I first painted rudders (to see how the mix of base paints look on model) and also put the surfacer on whole body of aircraft.

Then there was a time for preshading.

For the first time I am trying to use very colourful and complicated preshading, and frankly said, I have no idea what outcome it will bring me out. :)

First, the preshading on panel lines only:

Second stage - there was colouring of everything possible:

First stage of painting.

I think that preshading is to strong at some places, so I am going to put layer or two of base paint.

But I think it looks nice.

Final stage of painting: I added some shadings inside the panels, wings, etc.
Used base paint and Gunze C311 to brighten the darker tones of jet.
I am thinking about adding some filter to equalize all tints and discolorations, but I believe that is all.
Of course - before weathering.

That is a sweet job! I would think about just a little filter, the panel-lines are a bit over-emphasised at the moment, but that might depend on how you're intending to do the weathering stages?

Another step ahead, another step toward the finish.
The decals.
I have bought Syhart's set of nice decals, but Revell's decals are just better, regarding print quality, so I used them.
I used only few Syhart's, mostly for nose sensors, so I think I avoided very difficult masking and painting.

Out of curiosity... Can you go into your paint process a bit more in detail?

I'm wondering what Gunze #'s you used for your base coats and subsequent weathering (besides 311)

Looks awesome so far! Can't wait to see more :)

I used mixed Gunze C307 and Tamiya XF-54 - 1:1.

For radar dome I used the same mixture with Gunze C335.

And I believe that is all, if you want more infromatione, please ask.

The model is awaiting for wash and weathering, but it is in next step.

Brilliant work. How did you the tint the canopy in gold?

I m planning the build of brilliant Revell kit of Rafale B and I was thinking of using Tamiya Smoke to tint canopy but that gold color on your canopy looks more natural.

looking perfect!

interesting observation about the decals though! the old (original boxing ) Revell decals were not usable, as being hi-viz....

will have a look on mine!

I do believe kit decals are just manufactured by Cartograf (according to info on the sheet: printed in Italy): really very high quality of print, very good colours, everything is very sharp and accurate, and also the film is thick. Just like usually Cartograf decals are.

The model is ready to final wash and weathering.

I started with wash, using Mig Jimenez Medium Grey panelliner. I hope it is not too bright for my Rafale.
Next step there will be weathering process and some kinds of dirt and dust applied on the surface.
I hope you will like it.
