noddy927
1st build log. Just started this build today. Academy 1/48 Russian Knights. I have a separate decal sheet I used on another SU-27 I built before, and it is a better set of sheets than the Academy ones. The fin decals are gold instead of yellow, and the red is too dark. Here is the progress so far. Did a bit of extras on the bang seat as the kit was really bare. [/url] Engine intake fans Thats all for now. The top and bottom fuse went together well, just a little sanding at the nose and at the base of the wings. Avgas
Nice work so far Pete. I have this one in my stash and after putting another together a while back, that's where it's going to stay for a while yet. Not the easiest kit to get a decent result from in my experience. You're doing a lovely job though so will watch with interest.

noddy927
Thanks guys, Avgass it is a pretty complex kit as there is some etch in there too. A nice kit though and hopefully the rest comes together okay. Cheers Pete
noddy927
Slow going but some more work done. I have a couple of other builds on the go, thats the real reason its slow lol. Thats all for now. Pete
noddy927
I tried the decals for the kit, they are very poor and don't fit. I have masked and painted the red and blue. I ill use the decals for the markings from a spare set I have. Progress so far. Then today I did some masking for the fine lines between the red and blue Waiting fr the Klear to dry and then the blue. Pete

Pete in Lincs
Looks good to me. I was at Scampton when these guys landed for the first time in the UK in the early 90's. It was rather unreal, Like aliens had landed. Wandering around them on the pan, Our jaws dragging on the ground. The size of some of the rivets! The hand painted colour scheme! noddy927
Thanks guys much appreciated. Pete I would love to see them, but they display very rarely now, and with the issues over in the Ukraine at present I don't think I will see them any time soon. spruecutter96
Really superb work! You have about ten times the patience I would have on a project like this. Thanks very much for sharing. Chris.
noddy927
You're welcome Chris, and thanks for the comments. RE: patience......believe me it was trying at times, and when i spent one evening on it when I was tired (big mistake, models and tiredness don't mix) it nearly took it's 1st flight. But overcame the issues the next day. Thanks again for the comments guys, I appreciate them all. Pete
