  1. I don't disagree per se, but its a long trek for me, so I need to be reasonably sure that there is something that would interest me to justify the time/expense in getting there. In this day and age where the t'internet is everything for some people, they're ignoring a large section of the public if they can't keep the website up to date - Gen Z will just pass them by. If I was in the area, I would call in and see, and punt the £15 admission fee,
  2. I've a garage full of those units from when I had my shop. time for a trip to the tip to dump what's on and re-purpose them
  3. i too thought that, then looked at their website. Oh dear! The future events calendar isnt populated and all the news items are dated 2021/2022. Not going all the way to MK to find there isnt anything worth looking at
  4. I'll be up for this. I was contemplating an Airwolf build for the 80s GB, but seeing as its based on a Bell 222 it could in here too and I can do tomcats (Top gun or The Final Countdown) or my BTTF1 DeLorean for that.
  5. I think by 2025 I should have some skills so yes, count me in. Not sure which one yet, still debating . If peeps can't have the same theme, then I will let others pick what they want and I will choose one that nobody else is doing - not sure of the GB etiquette, still a noob.
  6. This kit has now been replaced and is due out at the end of the month, I've just back ordered it. https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/aoshima-06346-bttf-part-i-delorean-time-machine-movie-mecha-bt-01-1-24-model-kit/ However after watching a video of a build, I'm not sure when my skills will be capable If, when, I think my skills are up to scratch, and there is still room, I'll join in. Also have plans to do an F-14 diorama, but haven't decided on a Final Countdown version against a Zero, or a Top Gun version against a Mig. Or both! I've also just had delivered the Aioshima Airwolf! decisions, decisions.
  7. and in English... "with permission from Legendary Pictures" = "here's a wad of cash!"
  8. Getting there slowly on this. Its almost complete now, still need to add decals and I'm currently painting the figures. well once I've removed the ready brek glow they are surrounded in. As this is only my first diorama, its not going to be super detailed etc but doing the best I can with my beginner's skill set I'm not going to put camo on the bunker - I dont think I'm ready for that yet I did decide to paint the lifebouys a proper colour, rather than the same colour as the Higgins (Matt Light Grey) as I thought it looked better, and some reference photos I saw had them orange too No paint guide for the provided shells, or a suggestion of where to put them, so I painted them brass with black tops and put them to the side waiting to be used and also on the sides of the guns where there was room for a couple Need to do some remedial work on the LCM's pilot house as a gap has appeared in the roof. Hopefully I'll have finished by the end of the month.
  9. That's so clever! My plate id B19 GLM, cos I'm fat
  10. you can get the Tamiya thinner (X20A) in a 10ml bottle for a couple of pounds if you dont want to risk mixing brands.
  11. they do a 1/48 now too https://www.anigrand.com/AA6015_Mig-31.htm
  12. The show I went to see, use Burton's narrative. I've looked on the 'pedia, and it turns out it was 2006 when I saw it. It had Justin Hayward sing his iconic Forever Autumn and Russell Watson playing Phil Lynott's part on the album of Parson Nathaniel. i've got an excellent WotW 7 disc collector's edition box set. I heard, or it may be in the 80 page book in this edition, that for the overdubs into other languages, they got a famous American actor (Anthony Quinn) to do the Spanish version. Unfortunately he actually did it in Mexican Spanish, which apparently is completely different to Spanish Spanish, and they had to redo it.
  13. This is a very frustrating build. Lots of gaps, things not fitting, paint guides an utter farce. Wish I'd never started this, but I do want to finish it for June.
  14. Well thanks to this thread, I replayed the album yesterday. Still excellent even after 46 years! dum dum dum duuum. "The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one" he says. Ooo Mr. Ogilvy, you idiot!
  15. I went to Sheffield Arena to see the live show in the late 90s I think it was. Loved it. Strangely the day after I was actually in Woking, and in the city centre there is a metal Martian tripod - https://www.celebratewoking.info/wokingsheritage/legacywellsinwoking/martiantripod
  16. I um'med and ar'ed on whether to go, as the NEC is far closer the than Scottish event, and I'd done Hinkley earlier so knew the journey wouldnt be too bad. But the car parking charge was just stupid (though Orlando theme parks charge $30+/day). I looked at busses (megabus) but it got in at 3am or something stupid, and the train times didnt work either. Having the skew towards rail however, I'm glad I didnt go and save my pennies for my first Telford trip.
  17. Actually. I've just dry fitted the prop etc and it wont look right on the waves bit of the diorama if I have the props on. So I'm going to seal the pin holes where it should be fitted and leave them off so it sits better. Problem solved
  18. Just a quick question, don't want to get bogged down into too much discussion I'm building the Airfix's D-Day Operations Overlord diorama. While not wanting to be too super exact, as the kit doesnt warrant it in terms of accuracy, but the painting guide doesnt mention the props and it seems to be shaded in the same as the outside of the vessel (64 Matt Light Grey) before camo is applied. I'm going to paint the actual prop 55 Metallic Gloss Bronze (with maybe a matt varnish to take the gloss edge off), but not too sure about the prop shaft. I feel it should be some kind of metallic colour- brass, aluminium, gunmetal?? I'm not too hung up on being super accurate just semi-realistic. I'm not painting the keel 29 Matt Dark Earth as advised in their painting guide, as I believe the bitumen its trying to emulate was applied to the keel until after D-Day, so I'm going to leave it the same colour that's "under" the camo (64 Matt Light Grey). I know the colours are to match their own Humbrol offerings so not exact, I don't mind for this kit, just the prop I knew was wrong. As is the lifebouys which they say is the same colour as the inside of the craft (164 Matt Dark Sea Grey) but I'm going to do them either all orange or white with red "bits", as I've seen examples of both. tia Glumbo
  19. Nice. Discovery is also on my list of Real Space stuff to do. We were in Florida on our Honeymoon when the Discovery launched in '86 so got to see it, albeit from Orlando as the the roads were blocked from 4-5am getting to the Cape/Merritt Island. We could still see it pushing through the clouds though, even 60 miles away! However, back then, the KSC tour bus took you *very* close to launch pad 39b, so I actually got to see the Discovery on the launchpad which was cooool! We've been many times to Florida and I've seen several launches (though not from Merritt Island unfortunately, Indian Rocks was about the closest). I did have the revell kit many years ago, but it didnt survive the house move. I brought it back from Florida lol, from a store in Central Orlando called NCC1701! Later visits, they had an extension built called NCC1701-A Would like maybe to build Enterprise too (as that was in the opening sequence to Enterprise TV Show), to complement the other Enterprise (and NX-01) that *will* be in my stash, as I too, like you, is a Trekker (nice Kelvin build btw!). Though I wonder if I got the Revell Discovery and Enterprise from the new series too how space will be needed! arrg!
  20. ooo EvE online! Dust down some of my Gallentian ships and get them modelled! Thought Iteron V might be a bit long lol. Played that since it started, currently on a break playing Starfield. I was one of the beta testers for the Excel plug-in recently.
  21. Thanks for the advice. I did see your pics of the clear fuselage and your reasoning for not using it. Thanks for the advice on how the lighting would/would not affect your decision. My skill levels are well below yours so if you say you wouldn't be confident then I would have to say I defo wouldn't be either. After getting back into plasticoism and only 3 complete, 3 in progress plus a d-day diorama then I am not too seasoned! When (if) it arrives from Wonderland then I think it might be in my stash for a while, until I feel my skills warrant the start. I've got a couple of :48s in my stash I think I would need to do first to get used the scale - only :72s at the mo, so my mistakes aren't exacerbated by the scale (though I did spray clear matt all over to fix decals only to realise they fog clear styrene! OOOPS!). Plus I'm doing loads o' research on anything extra on the market, but unfortunately coming up with nada. Based on your build, I think I am going to make my special interest in the TV show/film/scifi arena rather than "just" military aircraft (et al). I have things in my stash I was interested in (buccaneer, Harrier etc as in 78/79 I went to Biggin Hill to try out for a pilot so I would have more than likely been in the Falklands conflict had I got in) but I have several genres in my stash to work out what my "SIG" should be, and I think this might be it! (wait for my 100 post so I can create a for sale thread where I can sell the things still left in my stash that doesn't conform to my favoured theme lol)
  22. Sorry to drag The Lady back into view, but I've just ordered this kit based on this thread I wondered if I could use the clear side to show Dom's area but with an internal LED similar to what you got from Jennifer at Small Scale Lights, and that would enhance the internals to overcome the opaqueness of the clear fuselage? Other than Aoshima's version with PE included (which I cant get hold of), does anybody know of any other after markets items for this model?
