  1. Well done on the conversion sir.
  2. Nice what kind of Self Propelled Artillery is that ? Is it an M109 Paladin or something else ?
  3. Hello Everyone… Finally Im able to get back to work. I finally got my office moved and set up so were good to go now. I got the decals on today and will clear them over the next couple of days. Then I can move onto final painting, the flash and a couple of the sensor panel's. Please feel free to ask questions, post comments or thoughts. Dennis
  4. Good morning everyone … Not much to say but did get a start on my first two Matchbox builds, this and the Tempest. Pretty basic build and shouldn't take a long time to finish. Macro always makes it look rougher than it is. added a couple of smashed weights inside. The nose is only mocked on right now. Shouldn't need a lot of filler. Though will need a bomb bay scribed into the belly, Matchbox missed that completely. Im angling for a 410th BG plane out of England in June or July of 44. Something like this one. https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/a-20/a-20g-43-10195-646bs-410bg/ I dont have the decals but should be able to make them up from spares. Need to ask Dave or Pat @Rabbit Leader or @JOCKNEY these dont need to be 100% accurate as far as nose art ? I mean as long as I can get the codes accurate for the squadron can I make up the nose art ? Please feel free to ask questions, post comments or thoughts. Dennis
  5. Hello everybody … Well I finally got a start on building. First glue to plastic in almost 10 weeks. Not much to these so you can get at them very fast. There were minor gaps under neath but they will be easy to take care of. Please feel free to ask questions, post comments or thoughts. Dennis
  6. Welcome aboard V-P, Thanks for joining. Ohhh @Enzo Matrix we now have 30 on the roster may we be added to the bunfight list ?
  7. Anyone looking for Lakenheath based Eagles ? If so GWH is dropping a new edition kit for the F-15E in 1/48 scale. https://spruebrothers.com/lnrs4816-1-48-great-wall-hobby-f-15e-strike-eagle-special-paint-schemes-of-expeditionary-eagles/
  8. With only one more needed lets give this one a kick in the …….. Any mode of transport is allowed provided it was used in between the two World Wars ?
  9. @TonyOD Was just looking at this thread and realized you had not added me. Still possibly bush float plane or flying boat. However if all else fails Ive got a bunch of carrier born aircraft.
  10. According to the B-57 Wiki page there are 30 surviving airframe's. Most of which aren't accessible as they're on internal display at Air Force bases. The rest are in museums or gate guards.
  11. Bello Rob … from across the pond, Im in Chicago to be more exact. I’m mostly an aircraft builder but do occasionally build other types of kits. Dennis
  12. Here is some info on them. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/240645-b-17-wing-tip-vents/
  13. V-P are talking the fuel dump vents, or some other marking's ?
  14. Ive done similar stuff before by drilling shallow holes then using liquid cement like Tamiya extra thin to soften them.
  15. Caracal is dropping new decals for the Eagle. @Marklo these might help you ? I know they're 1/48 and not sure if that works but the artwork will help none the less. Youre bird is the 1st up from the bottom AF71290 https://caracalmodels.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b9b7ecdcd72c67917a07f3cec&id=b49097d89b&e=4f1cb892ef https://caracalmodels.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b9b7ecdcd72c67917a07f3cec&id=2e53605423&e=4f1cb892ef
  16. Hello Hans … from the city of Chicago USA. Im mostly into military aircraft from the 1930’s through today. Dennis
  17. Hello Joe, To answer these lets take them in order. First Ive been airbrushing since 1987. I’ve owned 6 brushes, the first was a Paasche Double action, the second was the battery powered Tamiya. Followed by a D/A Badger which was my best brush for years. Currently I have three Iwata’s for different levels of work. Each type of paint will require its own pressure, this is all connected to size of needle also. The best piece of advice is practice practice practice. Pick the paints you use the most and get comfortable using, thinning, and spraying them. Its a common problem with Acrylics and other types to get tip dry. I find a wet cotton earbud either water or thinner and every couple of minutes wipe the tip. ✳️ Pro-tip pull the needle back so you don't bend or damage it. Cleaning … Hmmm well I flush it very well in between colors. First a couple run through with thinners. Use an old paint brush to help loosen paint in the cup. I then run through with water to neutralize the thinners. Then at the end of each session I tear the A/B down as much as possible (depends on how complex your A/B is). And clean it as thoroughly as possible at that time. Mixing is good either in the cup (small amounts) or in a separate jar/bottle for larger amounts. I use pipette droppers and count drops of each color to get my mixes (mostly lacquers). I use old used water bottle caps or an painting palette to figure my ratio’s then write them down for the future. It pays off if you're in the middle of a job and need to mix more. Once I get the desired amount of paint for the model I add 30-50-100% equivalent thinners (depending on type of paint) to get the right consistency. It should be about the level of skim milk. Or slightly thick water. Its always best to figure out your ratio before committing to the A/B cup. When I was using Vallejo and Ammo acrylics almost exclusively I found about 5 drops of thinner or water if you're using the Airbrush designed specific paints. More if using the standard Vallejo’s I have however found that acrylics most definitely have a shelf life. I find Vallejo and Ammo the pigments begin to solidify after 12 months from first use. No matter how much I shake or stir nothing will fix the paint once that starts. I wound up getting Vallejo gravel in my Iwata Neo once because of it. Dennis Please feel free to ask more questions. Im not the best at explaining things but will always try.
  18. Hello Mike … from the city by the lake Chicago USA. Im mostly military aircraft from the 1930’s through modern types. I like classic prop driven airliners though I still need to build some someday. Dennis
  19. Well My original Purchase of the MiG-21 Begemot Decal sheet git cancelled of you remember. When looking for a replacement I couldn't find another trustworthy source for Begemot decals that was a decent price. So started looking around for something similar. Since the decals were going to be used for an KP Mig-19 kit I was really only after the roundels and bort #’s. I found a source in the USA for Print-scale decals and bought Arab air force’s for the MiG-19. I plan on doing the two toned grey Mig-19 ⬆️ seen here. Bonus is thst now I can buy multiple MiG-19’s and 21’s as I have plenty of markings. Dennis
  20. Unfortunately a lot of A-10’s look like this, Warthogs root around in the dirt so they get warthog nose. 😉 1st photos in these links. https://www.insider.com/damage-to-a10-warthog-nose-by-refueling-tanker-flying-boom-2020-2 https://theaviationist.com/2017/05/11/this-photo-shows-the-damage-caused-by-a-tankers-refueling-boom-to-the-nose-of-an-a-10-warthog-aircraft/amp/ No in reality its most likely turbulence caused, gets a bit bumpy behind an airliner/re-fueler. Dennis
  21. Nice Choices, Ive considered the A-6 myself but as a very early “E” model from 1972.
