  7. Boeing 727 flying over Yeovil....I think its the one that is used for spraying over contaminated water and coincidentally the aircraft that Leonardo use for trials. Fairly unusual for this day and age
  8. Chock head did it ....most said it wasnt as good as they thought ....dry ships see....quote from a now very senior renowned Irish Roof rat Chief
  9. Wow that all looks proper geeky....im.jealous ๐Ÿ‘
  10. I believe it was all to do with Vibration(ask a filthy grubber) when they fitted the CARSON main rotor blades which gave the aircraft extra lift etc when hot and high. It also made it go faster coming back from Cyprus to the UK via Gutersloh at low level we tanked it along ..suprised there wasnt an incident
  11. Hmm maybe but maybe the command are risk.adverse for a reason ...im sure you know alot about training but learning about sea survival isnt really something you do on your own ...being part of a ships company or squadron isnt an individual task ...you learn through teamwork and an instructors experience ...and maybe a dunking in Horsea lake mid winter...I could go on butvI do remember someone whilst I was on det on board a fort boat gobbing off when an old senior rate just casually dropped in the conversstion that he was on Atlantic Conveyor...he survived ....by a dunking ....I think everyone learnt from the lessons of that conflict ...so yes you are correct you can learn on your own but the Navy have spent a lot of money on training in a particular way for a reason.
  12. hadnโ€™t ticked off the โ€œEmbarked Forces Sea Survival Courseโ€ box is basically saying, we are going to weaken the entire program because we canโ€™t teach the basics of not drowning underway to an individual. Really ? You obviously are not ex Royal Navy ....its not a trip on a boating pond it can be quite hazardous and if there is an emergency at sea Fire or flooding etc you cant call the local emergency services you are on your own. Sea survival is important not a five minute brief and not worthy of your tearse comment.
  13. Nice rendition of an aircraft from the premier fixed wing squadron
  14. Didnt reslise you were a mottly (MAOT) or at least forerunner of Junglie MAOT.
  15. Wednesday an ex Crab SAR Whirlwind and Sea King 3/3a...floating around Yeovil airfield .....they need a Wessex to complete the set ...and maybe a Sycamore....must try harder ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†BZ fellas

  20. Crazy to think I was a few months old and then in 1989 I was servicing the Herons before Heron flight disbanded. Interesting run ashore in Amsterdam as a swan song....couple of Herons parked up amongst 747s at Schipol. Run ashore was more interesting at the time๐Ÿ˜†
