Tomcats, Tomcats, Tomcats…. F-14 Adventures
Hook replied to Brigbeale's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
"Litter" would seem appropiate. Lovely work there! -

I just have the English version, sorry. Cheers, Andre

Great lineup of Sixes!

Great execution of a rather eyecatching scheme, thanks for posting. Cheers, Andre (Dutch but with an Austrian girlfriend) -
Why choose between those two options when there's an inbetween choice as well? Cheers, Andre

https://www.scalemates.com/books/the-mig-21-holger-mueller--126824 A very nice tome, albeit with a focus on usage in Europe. Cheers, Andre

A very bold and succesful action indeed.

1/72 Hasegawa F-104S Italian Air Force
Hook replied to Dave Klaatu's topic in F-104 Starfighter STGB
Looking great from here! -
The first time the brutish charms of the Swinging Fitter were raised in my consciousness was in an Air Forces Montly article in, I'd wager, 1989 covering the East German ones. Cheers, Andre
-
You could! Of course, you could also do what a lazy sod like me would do and wait for the Modelsvit Su-22M-3. Fitter variants are almost as confusing as Bf109's... Cheers, Andre
-
The Su-22M3 as flown by the Hungarians and Vietnamese was a Tumanskiy R29BS-300 powered version, with different contours and air scoop arrangement than the Lyulka versions. Modelsvit has not released this version yet, AFAIK. Isn't your kit a Su-17M3..? Cheers, Andre
-
Indeed - luckily, Modelsvit is to come out with a correct Su-22M-3 somewhere in the future. Cheers, Andre
-
Dutch F-16's and German Tornados were the most common.
-
All very nice!, the Su-20 kit in my photo has Egyptian,Iraqi, Polish and West German options. Incidentally, one of the two ex-Egyptian Su-20's transferred to and evaluated by the West Germans ended up at Leeuwarden AB, the closest airbase to where I live. Cheers, Andre

1/72 Hasegawa F-104S Italian Air Force
Hook replied to Dave Klaatu's topic in F-104 Starfighter STGB
Well, that was fast! -
And here's the verdict - sprue A is identical! Cheers, Andre
-
AFAIK (always a dangerous way to start a sentence!) the Su-17M was powered by the AL-21F-3 while the Su-20 had the older AL-7F-1. Since the newer engine was smaller,. it may have led to external differences / break points around the back end. Let me pull out my Modelsvit Su-17M and Su-20 kits tonight. Cheers, Andre

I've never seen any reference. Occams Razor - an error in the Aeromaster instructions would appear to be the most logical option. Cheers, Andre

If you're building in 1/272nd, Swords Lightnings have aquisition missiles (part #8). Cheers, Andre

Differences between prototype and production Viggens
Hook replied to AdrianMF's topic in Aircraft Cold War
You have the biggies lined out. A small tip - all the various Tarangus / SH Viggen kits include two seats and three cockpit tubs / instrument panels to cater for the different versions. It may be worth it asking for spares in the Wanted section. Cheers, Andre -
In addition, there are some great some post-Yugoslav markings on this: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hi-decal-line-72-037-mig-21-bis-fishbed-l-n--105225 The owner, @Diego, hangs around here and is an allround great guy. Cheers, Andre
