As Jon said the figures are just a visual add on to all the other details and do not need to be highly accurate shape ways do some nice sets expensive over here but sure would be easy for you to get Some I did for my LCM. beefy

Nick sorry for late reply been a busy weekend will try and do a step by step explanation on my base but look back at some of the work @robgizlu has done and he also has some very good examples and explanations on his water base. So first as above post the base and sides are made up and the king-span cut to fit in then the basic shape of the hull is carved out the messy bit. I then coat in diluted PVA water mix about 60/40 PVA to water when dry I prime in this case plain black from Vallejo Then a very thin coat of translucent silicone sealer is added and smoothed over the ship is then planted into the base using more silicone to help fill any gaps When this is dry to get the final texture I will be using Deluxe Materials Making Waves this is a bit like the acrylic gel you can get from an art supplies shop I will be trying to have the ship at anchor not underway as most of my builds are I want to portray her in Suda Bay off Crete just before she was bombed and badly damaged Looking at some photos on the tinternet she has what looks like a strange anchor chain set up the Starboard side chain appears to wrap around the Port side would this be normal practice on large ships when not using and anchor Buoy. So this is where we are so far awaiting for her to set in place. Stay Safe beefy

Well who doesn't like a bit of nostalgia. I got this kit last October from the Glasgow Model Show first time in three years it had been on and it was back to it's usual self I am glad to say. While the base work continues on York and in-between other small work to give my eyes a rest and something to build at the Local Model club this is my Thursday night relief. I have already assembled the hull and paddle wheels but the area around the aft cabin windows will need some attention to sort out the gaps and raise the details this will be a change from the old grey navy I normally build. The only thing that looks a bit tricky is the ratlines have to be made using a jig the old kits used to have a pre-fabricated stuff should be interesting I think we will see. Stay Safe beefy
