  1. Ooo...was really looking forward to this release, but the sprue shots give me pause. Admittedly, I haven't looked out any refs yet but straight off the bat the intakes are a bit um, understated, and the horizontal stabs seem a bit off -too broad at the base? Well, this being HobbyBoss, no doubt there will be much debate in store!
  2. Great photo; thanks Shaun. I'm planning on modelling 'Black 26' in the not too distant -so interesting to me that at the time of shooting, it had a port rudder in primer(?) and the MARINES service identifier on the same side...an option I didn't know I had!
  3. Superb job! The water effect is just awesome. Now, I'll grant you they did a reasonable job of fending off stroppy aliens, but did Harlington-Straker ever make a single motion picture...? Thought not -pahh!
  4. Indeed an excellent kit, one of my favourites. Didn't know there was an Airwaves set for it -well, maybe next time! Unless I screwed something very fundamental, for some reason the Eduard instrument panel doesn't look like the canopy will close over it...just a heads-up that you may want to seat it lower than where it is 'supposed' be according to the instructions. Also, I know I've already posted this elsewhere, but I don't think you can have too much of 1/72 Hortens: https://www.facebook.com/jasminemodel.tw/photos_stream PLEASE, Santa...!
  5. This looks like a good idea; I usually cut the fastenings/adjusters off and dump the p/e bits of harnesses, substituting narrow Kabuki or PVC tape with the aforementioned hardware stuck on. This drapes much more convincingly, but it is nigh impossible to duplicate stitching, stencilling, etc. I hope Eduard will extend this format to post-WWII items -and maybe RBF ribbons...?
  6. Very nice work indeed. Applying some Academy decals is more like wallpapering than decalling, but it looks like you tamed them!
  7. Beautiful 'Omars' bird -great choice of markings, can't wait to see it finished!
  8. Same thoughts occurred to me -those two look like the sort who go out and abduct aliens...
  9. Well, I always loved the awesome quality of work on Britmodeller Forums but this is outstanding! A beautifully nuanced finish also -I'm inspired!
  10. Gorgeous Hun! The 'Project Lookalike' finish is pretty much perfect, IMHO -the hot end looks especially good, when you can faff around for ages with different metalliser shades and end up with something not even half as convincing. One question: what exactly did you replace the nose with...?
  11. Not looking for anyone under the bed here, but (maybe it's the single star/sunrise/whatever) that splashy tail art has something slightly Old Skool Soviet poster about it...? Sort of needs a guy and a gal in dungarees and big cloth caps, waving spanners or pitchforks in the foreground... (Well, it's AZ so the dungarees are a given! OK, OK, I was just leaving...)
  12. Absolutely magnificent -it has improved my quality of life just seeing this! Many thanks for sharing this awesome creation; you must be well thrilled with the finished item.
  13. Lovely work on 'The Saint'! Adversaries are my weakness... You really nailed the weathering too -superb.
  14. Wow, those are beautiful! The extras on the first one really paid off.
  15. Hi Les, which Eduard set do you have there? The printed grey on my bits (for Hasegawa 1/48) is pretty much USN Light Ghost Grey (FS 36375). This 'matches' most photos I have, accepting the limitations of photographic processes. However, both the kit instructions and the DACO 'Uncovering...' book specify Dark Gull Grey (FS 36231) -yowsa! Surely that can't be right...? Well, looks like some would disagree ^, so I'll bow to their wisdom! These names are from certain on-line conversion charts. Some pre-coloured Eduard sets can be very strange hues; as usual the only way to go is with whatever photos or paint chips you can find. http://www.mcara.us/images/photos/aircraft/FA-18D/FA-18D-Hornet-rear_cockpit.jpg (This is Dark Gull Grey...?)
