  1. the SMS paints are solvent borne lacquers. ( sometimes referred to as acrylic lacquer). They are ready to spray from the bottle and give a nice smooth semi gloss straight off the gun. I decal and apply washes(Tamiya Panel liner) straight over the top. Finishing coat is Testors Dullcote lacquer with some clear gloss added to bring it up in sheen a bit. Beware quite strong solvents so take precautions if using. Cheers.
  2. Thanks all for the kind words. I’m really happy to have this one in the cabinet.
  3. The instructions are not great, many copy pastes from the previous FA2 kit that I had built earlier, some questionable part numbers and vague locations. Check reference is always wise with Kinetic. The fit was great in some places and crappy in others. The wing and engine deck are the worst requiring a bit of adjustment.
  4. Final completion for 2023, just beat the clock. Kinetic 1/48 Sea Harrier FRS1, 899 NAS Royal Navy 1988. Completed with the addition of a resin Mk10 seat from Pavla, resin wheels from Reskit, exhaust nozzles from Eduard and pitot from Master. Kit decals and SMS lacquer for the Extra Dk Sea Grey. Scratchbuilt FOD covers to finish her off. I took some liberties with the the markings. XZ455 was credited with two Dagger kills in the Falklands, the first by Flt Lt Penfold. It is unlikely that the aircraft would be carrying these markings in 1988 but I wanted them on so they're on. Here's some pics of the finished product. My #7 for the year. Cheers and Happy New Year.
  5. That’s my build link on HS and it did have recessed rivets. I did however deepen every single one with a needle in a pin vice back when I built that.
  6. Just seeing this Bruce. Bravo mate, nice overall package.
  7. Thanks Istvan the red missiles are training inert rounds. The White and black version is a live round. The colour grey I used just suited my eye. Others will chime in with the correct colour spec but I used something like medium sea grey. Approximately FS36320. Thanks all for the comments.
  8. You've done a great job. I wish I could get motivated to build mine.
  9. Hey BMérs With 2022 being an Anniversary I'm planning a few Falklands/Malvinas builds. These are the first ones. I've ended up in a bit of an unintended buddy build with Calum Gibson. This is my rendition of an A-4Q built from the Hasegawa A-4B with Cat 4 resin bits, Decals are from Aztec. I used a TER with Mk82 Snake eyes on the centreline as a MER covered the spot I wanted for the in flight mounting. The other is a bit of a bonus and was a nemesis of the A-4's - its is the Takom 1/35 Sea Dart Missile launcher. Built out of box with the red drill missiles loaded. I had to scrounge some white letters for the missiles from spares. Hope you like my take on the subjects, Thanks for looking.
  10. Love the way the sea base came out in the pics, very moody. Bueno.
  11. thanks mate. I’m not sure about any left/right mislabeled instructions. By the time they went in they had long been made as a sub assembly and they really only fit one way. Maybe I fluked it 😝. Some say the intake lips are inaccurate when viewed from head on but it didn’t bother me enough to change it.
  12. Thanks Guys appreciate all the comments.
