  1. Nice progress @bianfuxia. Very brave of you to be filling and sanding after painting 🤞🏻it all comes out OK.
  2. It’s a shame it didn’t make the Gallery Alexey, but I do like your excuse (I may have to borrow that in the future). You have produced a beautiful example of a Not Your Usual Colour Scheme on a definitely not your usual aircraft. Thank you for joining the GB and bringing a lovely build along. A fascinating history too. Thank you
  3. Thanks Col. Once you know the foibles with the IBG kit, they do go together really nicely.
  4. Indeed. I had a quick look and I think it would be just under 1/3 of air arms that would be ruled out for having a star in their "roundel".
  5. I think I’m mad given my forthcoming travel plans, but well, just time for one more? This is another 1/72 IBG PR Spitfire, this time a PR Mk I Type E. You may have seen its early appearance in my Type A build in the Not Your Usual GB: I started both kits at the same time, but then thought I ought to focus on completing the Mk IA, so work paused on the Mk IE Mk IE cockpit at the top of the shot. Today I cracked on with this version. Here, against the IBG’s assembly recommendation, the cockpit is mounted to the starboard fuselage half Sanding stick for scale and to keep it upright for the photo. Then the port fuselage added was added. Ammunition case ejection ports all sealed up too Camera ports opened up and MG ports in the leading edge filled and sanded. Next step, fuselage and wing mounting.
  6. ….. a Swedish or Thai Air Force version. Same old PRU Blue, but different markings at least.
  7. Sounds like a great idea, I’m up for this GB, may I sign up. If the plan is to rule out the big boys (US, Russia, China) I think I’ll rule out RAF roundels from my options too; plenty of other roundels out there to choose from.
  8. I’m still up for doing “something captured” so I’m still in.
  9. I’m so glad you are persevering with this build @Pin, she is looking fantastic!!
  10. I’d guess at PRU Blue for the inside of the undercarriage doors and for the wheel well. With the gear up, you can’t see much inside the wheel well, so I doubt they would have tried painting it. Painting the undercarriage door would have been a real pain, so again, I’d say PRU Blue. Just my assumption though.
  11. That’s a really nice collection of Spitfires @Andwil, I do like the grass airfield too. Here are my builds this year, on a not so interesting cutting mat, two from this GB (LHS) and two from the Not Your Usual Colour Scheme GB (RHS) L to R, back to front: HF Mk VIII, PR Mk IA, PR Mk X, PR Mk IC. Now, do I have time for one more?
  12. Spitfire PR Mk X 542 Squadron, RAF Benson, 1944
  13. Well, I’m calling this complete. A bit of Krystal Klear in the gap in the IBG canopy doesn’t look too bad, so I’ll live with it. The IBG canopies are much clearer and thinner than the KP ones, so happy with the compromise.
  14. Well this has gone together quite quickly Decals are a bit …… interesting. The small black ones disintegrate very quickly unless you are very careful with them. All of them have a tendency to fracture quite easily. Just need to decide what I’m doing about the canopy, varnish it and put the camera port windows in place.
  15. Go for it @Troy Smith and thank you.
