  1. As it turned out, we also had Paul Davis Decals and Vince (MFS) had a sideline on books with a table run by his daughter - all made for a nice mix!
  2. As the show organiser, many thanks for all who came along (both exhibit and just walk around!) for helping make it the event it was. By most measures it was a successful do anyone I spoke seemed to be enjoying. Here's to next year's effort! Thanks again! Rick S.
  3. I seem to be experiencing an increasing number of occasions when I am confronted with a blue box with "Content not viewable in your region" - instead of the pic that had shown up in the Google search window. Why is that please and what can I do (if anything) to improve my Britmodeller experience? Thanks in advance Rick
  4. I would have thought that the One Man Andover would be ideal. You can have it with kneeling main gears and it seems to build OK - just you might need a few tubes of filler for the print layers
  5. Can anybody tell me what diameter he props are on the F7F Tigercat? I am looking at possibly replacing the dodgy ones in the 1/48 AMT kit with some spares from the ICM Invader. As far as I can tell, both machines used the same engines and I believe the Invader's props are 12'7" - I'm hoping the props are the same for the Tigercat. Any help would be appreciated! TIA Rick
  6. Sarigue! Well you do like your rare ones! Would be nice....👍
  7. Well guys, thanks for all of the replies - it seems that the ADC Gray has the vote and that Boneyard pic from Steve McArthur swings it for me. I knew I had seen a conversion somewhere recently - lovely job there, Zebra. I had gone looking for EC-24A items when the kit was announced (thanks to your hard work, of course! 🫡) and I got it onto backorder. Anchors aweigh! Rick
  8. Great work and excellent photography. Very impressed indeed. TBH - if imany venture, the first and only thing that gave away that it was a model was the lack of mud on the tyres - other than that, as mentioned above, they could easily be colourised WWII pics! Nice work!
  9. Hello BM'ers! I have just acqired the X-Scale EC-24Aand am confused by the colour callout. The instructions specify white over ADC Gray (16473) a la RC-135. As this is a USN aircraft I would have thought that Lt Gull Gray (16440) would be more appropriate. Does anybody know for sure what this very unique, one-off aircraft would be wearing on it's lower half? Thanks Rick
  10. In all the (16) years I spent as a brat watching the Victors on the 57 pan, I never saw them left open when parked so I do find it weird when a model is built, parked, with them open, but I do get the desire, of course! I believe this to be the hatch cover referred to above by Wez. My pic from the retirement press day, Sept 93. Victor K20030 by Rick Smith, on Flickr Queen of the Skies indeed!
  11. Beautiful job! I have been umming and aahing about one of these for quite some time - your lovely job may just have tipped me over the edge to dive in and get one. Your comment about the decals has me wondering - how were the supplied decals quality wise?
  12. Hi Six97s - thanks for doing the research - much appreciated. I love that video of the barn find - so much originality in there! The repainted convertible further reinforces for me that Algerian Bue is not correct - maybe the car came out of the factory in that colour and was repainted for Winspur for racing? Looks like it was a bright, dark blue, solid not metallic. Thanks again. ATB Rick
  13. Hi Rob G - thanks for looking into this! You're right, I never put absoulte faith in models as reference and do tend to regard all photos with suspicion without any cross check. The instruction sheet mentions Hudson paint code G-168 Algerian Blue Poly and Ditzler DAL-11060. Very odd as when checking the Ditzler references it seems to be DAL-11068 as you mention https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipdisplay.cgi?year=1954&manuf=Hudson&smodel=Hudson&page=1 but it does look very pale as compared with any of the photos I have located so far on-line. I have also heard this point made bt Brett Barrow back when the kit was released https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/118335-matty-winspurs-the-fabulous-hudson-hornet/page/2/ Thanks for the link - interesting! Regarding shine levels - I never use the 2-pack epoxy finishes - like you I cannot bear the wet look - I call them toffee apples! Thanks again for the research!
  14. Hi I am trying to build the Moebius Models kit of Matty Winspur's "The Fabulous Hudson Hornet" but have been defeated already by the shade of blue for the body. I throw myself on the mercy of the "BM Collective" in the hoep that somebody has a definitive view on it and can also propose a paint source accordingly. The kit instructions assure me that it is Algerian Blue Poly - and Moebius should know since it is the Winspur family that owns Moebius. But all of the paint charts that I have seen show a colour chip that seems way too dull and pale as compared with photgraphs and, even, the model on the box top and in the instructions. Anybody any ideas? Here's hoping! Thanks in advance Rick
  15. Guys - thank you so much for the responses, just goes to show that colour research is fraught with danger. Never more so than looking preserved aircraft. @JagRigger I had been looking at that set of pics for some while, but something wasn't sitting right for me with that machine, so I did a load of digging. Turns out that XP849 is airworthy in New Zealand as ZK-HQU and the museum aircraft is actually XP895, presented as '849. The colour of the cabin rear wall was what set me off when I realised the "real" '849's was white. @perduIt appears from other pics (including one of my own) that '849's deck may actually have been white after all! XP849 BD Familes day 190001 - mod by Rick Smith, on Flickr Taken by me in one of the hangars at BD on a Family's Day some time in late 80s. Thanks again guys for all the input - much appreciated, made me look again! Cheers ATB Rick
