tedtaylor Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) This is the partwork on the 1/32nd scale Lancaster, comes in 152 parts so will take a while. This lot is made up from parts 1,2 and 3. The construction is mostly plywood but we get sheet metal to cover it with and there are some solid metal parts like props etc. Not sure if I will ever finish it or not £600.00 is a lot of money, but here goes. Note how clean the parts are cut the parts just need a couple of nicks with the knife point to release them from the frame this is just the port outer wing section note the engine mounting wall fitted Be another month before the next four parts arrive so you might want to bookmark this page. PHREAK Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Nice start matey. So where does the plastic go Ted? Edited September 20, 2009 by PHREAK
tedtaylor Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Nice start matey. So where does the plastic go Ted? thanks Rich, you wait till I fit the merlins in, better get them ear muffs on matey
Dave Gibson Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 By my reckoning Ted, you get the last set of parts in about three years time. It also works out at about £4 per week plus paint and glue which is not bad, assuming you don't lose interest. On the point of glue, I take it that the Zap-a-gap is there for scale. What are you using? PVA or some sort of cascamite? Best of luck, Dave.
Skii Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Ted when you said it looked rubbish painted, it doesn't Bookmarked
AnonymousA667 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Looks fine to me. Awaiting further installments with great interest! Thanks for posting Ted. peebeep

No Dave I was using the C/A glue for the stringers the scalpel was for scale, I use PVA for the wood parts. Actually it is £5.00 per week plus, and I can't see me getting that far anyway I just wanted to get back to my days when we built models like that but all Balsa wood. Ted

Okdoky Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Hi Folks I have also started a wee diversion too with the Lanc but I too won't be buying any more parts than I have already. Ted I get the feeling that you won't get the skinning aluminium and stencils for cutting the panels till very late on in the series. My answer is too buy a few humble chinese takeaways and flatten the tins. Here is my nose cone. The convex changing to concave at the bomb aimer and turret is the toughest to get shaped though. Nige
ollieholmes Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 This could be interesting. I wonder how long it will be before the turret parts come along?
perry Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 i was kind of hoping that someone would be building this so we can follow their thread i wish i could get hold of a 1/32 vac Lanc!
tedtaylor Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Great start Ted, is it rubber powered? No for £600.00 you get real merlins I think
tedtaylor Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 (edited) here are a few pics of work up to parts Seven. Enjoy Ted Edited November 28, 2009 by tedtaylor

Doug Rogers Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Oh jeez! This going to be epic. Excellent work so far Ted, looking forward to the next installment.
TonyT Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Looking good Ted, you pleased with the quality?
tedtaylor Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 is this the out of that magazine ?? Yes but it isn't a mag just instructions and some history etc
tedtaylor Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Looking good Ted, you pleased with the quality? the materials are good, the lazer cutting is perfect, just down to the skill of the builder but I reckon it is OK
tedtaylor Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Ted,Are you intending on finishing it then? Dan I don't thinks so Dan it is too expensive, I just wanted to do a bit of old fashioned model building SWMBO would have a fit if I carried on too far. Ted
Foxhound Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 (edited) Looks great I too bought the first issue and have made the nose section (haven't got round to painting it yet). Hopefully the nose turret and bomb aimer glass will be in one issue, so that I can attach them it it Edited November 26, 2009 by Foxhound
dahut Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 600 GBP? Wow! For all the pieces and trinketology involved, the thing should darn well fly when it is done. I think you are a hero for even attempting a $1200 model plane. Nice work.
tedtaylor Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) some more pics which are up to date The throttles are all you get in this step but they are easy to make up with a dab of CA glue They give you alluminium strips for the supports on the tank but they tend to "ping" off easily so I have used same size plastic strips affixed with normal cement Enjoy Ted Edited November 27, 2009 by tedtaylor
