Helidriver
After buying a house and finishing the basement, and man cave, it is time to start a new model! I finished up an old one to get in the groove again, but this F-16A will be the first new one in almost 2 years! This is the kit I'll be building. image search host images Keeping this a mostly OOB build, only adding decals for the 174TFW in GW1. Oh, and some ordnance later on, there's nothing useful in the kit... free screen capture References in place... free screen capture free screen capture This doesn't look like an A model instrument panel... free screen capture After a short rummage in the stash I come up with this...much mo bettah... free screen capture That's it so far... Helidriver
It was pointed out in a different forum that the stabilators are wrong...so I had to go into my resin stash and search. And look what I found! gif uploader I have been using all sorts of paints over the years, and I think it's time to standardize a little. So I have decided to give Vallejo a try. gif uploader Edited February 6, 2017 by Helidriver
Helidriver
This is the motivation for the build...I've wanted to build this model since I first saw the picture. I just like the setting, the high tech world of Gulf War 1, and here we have an A model F-16 lugging Mk-84s around. upload pic Any idea what the ALQ-119 color is? All my references states white as the color of choice. I got these to provide the pods and weapons... upload pic Started on the cockpit and pilot... No detailing yet on the panel. upload pic I'm not mush of a figure painter, but tried my hand on subtle highlights. More detail to come. upload pic upload pic Thanks for watching. Finn
The ECM pods were a dark green: although the one in the pic got a little scorched by a near-miss. Also a larger pic of the one you posted shows the Mk-84s were the AIR version. Jari
Boman
ECM pods comes in several colors. The green ones are "leftovers" from the days of A-10's and/or F-4's in Euro1 scheme. So you can color them white, green or FS36375 gray as you prefer.
Helidriver
I'll go with OD Green, as that's what the reference photo shows. Thanks guys. Helidriver
Close to finishing the cockpit. Still need to clamp down the sides of the panel a bit, as they are bent all over the place. But the pilot is in his seat, and I fashioned some seatbelts out of masking tape. picture sharing picture sharing Ken

exdraken
nice project, and a good start! early F-16 are a bit neglected, but lately some nice builds came up here! F-16s where not really high-tech jets then... just bomb trucks and light fighters with Aim-9 capability that was to change soon after though! corsaircorp
Very nice kit, fine job and nice german sheperd dog. I have a german Dogge, but she know that when I'm modelling wandering aside is a very bad idea for her Specially with her big wagging tail, able to knock off whatever is lying on a chair. Good job, congrats. Sincerely. Corsaircorp
corsaircorp
Here's my would be carpet monster !! She can find the Fallen tiny parts before you did... Jabba
Some very nice work especially with that intake and the instrument panel. I will be doing one of these in the not too distant future but in 1/72 and the aircraft would be carrying a gunpod on the centreline pylon as they were the only Sqn to carry even if only for a few flights, and with the ECM pod on one of the wings ones. The photo with the damaged aircraft shows this.
Helidriver
Thank you. The intake is finally starting to look halfway decent. I have another F-16A model with an identical set of decals in the stash. It will be built with the gunpod. A very cool setup. Here's today's update. Decided to let the intake rest for mental health reasons, and worked on the nozzle mostly. Some work on the nozzle. free image hosting free image hosting free image hosting And the jammer is getting some love as well...free image hosting Slow and steady wins the race...hopefully. exdraken
Great work! Glad you managed to get the intake as to your demand.... Some decals simply are a bugger. Maybe add some softening solution immediately after putting them down...
