wkennerley Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) My build will be the el cheapo Airfix 250LM, cost me .50p!! I like the car and I have the kit hence its entry, will most likely do it in the racing scheme shown on the box, no extras as yet but I will see whether bits need scratchbuilding once I start. Gajman Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Welcome to the GB Wayne. You got quite a bargain there!
Rallychef Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 My build will be the el cheapo Airfix 250LM, cost me .50p!! I will watch this one, as I have one in the stash (mine was £1, at a car boot sale) regards Ian
Mike Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 0.50p eh? Didn't think 1/2 pennies were still legal tender?
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Nice choice of a relatively little-known car. Obi-Jiff
wkennerley Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 well so far not too many issues, of course the plastic tyres are cr*p, the wire wheels rather rubbish, there are some sink marks and mould marks that have needed sorting out. Almost finished the interior. The rear suspensions assembly was obviously designed by soneone who never tried putting a kit togehter, boy is it awkward!!!
cmatthewbacon Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I think this is one of the Airfix 1/32s that was originally a slot-car, so it's possible that the suspension is a bit of a late addition... bestest, M.

Thanks, it was definitely an after thought, and it does not fit all that well, but I have managed the front now!!
wkennerley Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Right suspension done, interior basically done and body sprayed with matt black, I may do the car in gloss black or maybe red, last time I did red on a black base and it came out quite nicely, so black base it is again. Will fit interior in tomorrow and glass then start masking the windows, and join the body and chassis.
wkennerley Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Body sprayed, there is a bit of red to be done on the chassis part, which I wil do later, I forgot to do it whilst doing the body, doh!!! I am also looking around to see if I can find any 1/32 wire wheels and rubber tyres to replace the plastic kit tyres and crappy wheels Edited January 9, 2010 by wkennerley
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I am also looking around to see if I can find any 1/32 wire wheels and rubber tyres to replace the plastic kit tyres and crappy wheels Might sound odd at first, but have you tried Scalextric spares? They do some classic racing cars, and may have something suitable. Obi-Jiff

wkennerley Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Ferrari 250LM finished - I decided not to spend £10 odd fitting different wheels to a 50p kit!! Edited January 18, 2010 by wkennerley
wkennerley Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Ooh, nice work.Obi-Jiff Thanks Obi-Jiff
wkennerley Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Very nice, and a quick build too!Dan Thanks Dan, its a rather simple kit really (apart from the damn suspension) so goes together quite quickly
Gajman Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 That's a good looking car, well done. I'll get on to the powers that be and ask them to create a 'completed gallery' thread then please post some pics to that. Gary
