Dermo245 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) Hi everyone, Here's one I just finished, Airfix's Sea King built for a 'multi-engine' GB on another forum. As you may well know, the fit on this one is a bit of a shocker, especially around the nose, cockpit and intakes. But am really happy how it turned out in the end. Personally, I thought I went a little OTT on the weathering but some people who've seen the real thing in action said I was a little restrained! Build thread is here and to recap... Build: Added interior seats and rescue gear; opened left side door. Engine filter was resin aftermarket; extended main blades to new spec. FLIR camera scratchbuilt. Paint: Primed with white Halfords primer, brushpainted with Humbrol acrylic yellow and Revell Aqua colour acrylics. Tamiya clear green for the window tint. Finish: Future; original kit decals. Pro Modellers wash and pencil weathering. Thanks for looking and enjoy your modelling! Dermot Edited October 21, 2012 by Dermo245 4
kwakermad Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Great build, and having spent a couple of years working, and washing these, the others are right you could have gone further with the weathering without going too far. This one looks as though it has flown about three times from its last wash. Just a pity that it was the inferior Sqn and not 202Sqn Bob 1
Skeg Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 That looks like a great finish, even more so for 1/72!
phildagreek Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Looks just like the one I've commented on in the WIP forum! Looks good, I see these fairly regularly at the local hospital and it looks spot on.
Graham77 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Nice build, you can never have too many yellow Sea Kings on the site Well done Graham
haroldk Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I like the well worn look you have given it. Nice Sea King. Harold
andersonr20 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Was up in the north east the other week and a SAR bird from RAF Boulmer went over - VERY DIRTY....... almost grey. All the same a very neat job
F-22 Raptor Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 nice one. Did you use an airbrush to do the paint job?
Dermo245 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Thanks Adam! Like all my builds, this was brush-painted. The weathering was a combination of a Flory Models wash (by brush) and pencil dust applied a cut down brush and 'stippled' on. Dermot
Tornado Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 You have turned a shocking kit into a stunning example
