ModelingEdmontonian
I am a little late to the party, but here I am! I know I'm not alone building one of these 1/72 Eduard Bf 110 kits for this GB, and it looks great! I won't bother with sprue shots. I'll be building it OOB as one of these Bf 110 that the Luftwaffe sent to Iraq. I think I attempted to build a Bf 110 (must have been Airfix) in the 1990s as a kid, but pretty sure it never made it to the finish line, so let's hope this goes differently!
modelling minion
Still plenty of time left in the GB, and an excellent choice of subject and markings.
Wings unlevel
Now that’s a cool subject choice!
81-er
Funnily enough, I have this kit and I really fancy the Iraqi markings as well. I'll be watching this one with interest James
vppelt68
Welcome, that is one nice little kit by Eduard! I know I will have to build a fourth one of these, one day . V-P
vppelt68
Highly recommended reading, if you know German: Drewes, Martin (2011). Braatz, Kurt [in German] (ed.). Sand und Feuer – Jagdflieger im Irak und über Deutschland [Sand and Fire – Fighter Pilot over Iraq and Germany] (in German). Moosburg, Germany: NeunundzwanzigSechs. ISBN 978-3-9811615-6-4. If you don't, here's highly recommended reading if you know Finnish https://www.antikvariaatti.net/tuotteet/829198 This is worth reading, because you know English: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Drewes 2

ModelingEdmontonian
A little progress. Lovely kit, as advertised. A lot of parts though, for sure.

ModelingEdmontonian
I have kept on snipping, sanding, and gluing various things right now. For example, I got the wings together. I like the look of the Bf 110 drop tanks in the pictures so I drilled out the holes to be able to mount those. I realized part of the reason I was drowning in parts is that my kit included a duplicate sprue B, which I assume is an error. So that's an awful lot of spare parts! Now I have a more manageable number of sprues to handle.
81-er
Never a bad thing to have an extra sprue James
ModelingEdmontonian
Some brushing of paint, mostly RLM 66 and RLM 02 has commenced.
vppelt68
Are you going to use the 300 L or 900 L drop tanks? The former look the business, the latter like the plane had caught a pair of barrage balloons . The big ones fit perfectly with a recce Ju 88, though!

The obnoxious 900 L, which you describe well as catching a pair of barrage balloons! Meanwhile, the cockpit is basically a model unto itself. I feel like you could spend a whole GB on just the Bf 110 cockpit! Here is just a small portion of the PE to use. Here are the three PE pieces onto the IP plastic.
81-er
I looked at all that PE in my kit and thought the Airfix kit would be better for a quicker build for this GB, then VP went and built that far faster than I'm managing with the Airfix one James

I have to say, to the extent I used the PE, decals, etc I enjoyed it. With the cockpit done, I closed up the fuselage and got the wings on. 15

ModelingEdmontonian
More progress, really enjoying putting this one together. Getting close to priming! I also painted the exhaust stacks and forward facing MGs.

ModelingEdmontonian
All ready for priming. Then I began with RLM 02 in the wheel wells and RLM 65 for the underside. Also, some paint on the rear facing gun.
RainierHooker
Looking good. Having been delighted by the build of an Eduard Bf.110 kit last year, I bought another profipack kit with the intentions of someday also building an Iraqi-flagged example. I'll be watching... It is my first one, but I have already mused internally about future Bf 110 builds! I am going to install the forward guns and the upper nose once most of the painting is done, which will both mitigate risk of breaking the guns and allows me to paint the upper nose white separately.
