S5 modeller
Hi chaps. I was wondering if anyone had found any incompatibility issues with vallejo masking fluid and Tamiya acrylics? I'm starting a complex masking job, and some areas are just not working with tape. I have some vallejo masking fluid, and copydex latex paper glue, to use, but I'm worried they might attack the paint. Has anyone used either over Tamiya paint? If so, did you have them attack, melt or peel the paint? I really don't want to try either product and ruin my paintwork I've done so far. Hope someone can help. Thanks for looking. Dads203
Might be an idea to try it on some scrap plastic first ? You have all the stuff to try it
S5 modeller
Aye, true enough, but as I've already laid down the titanium silver, it's s a pain to spray some scrap. Means setting my airbrush up, spraying, then a full strip down and clean as when I sprayed the silver last time all the metallic particles blocked my airbrush up. Maybe a 0.2 needle and nozzle is too small for the task.

I have a Badger and an H&S, plus a horrible Aztec, but 4 years ago, from Ebay I bought a cheapo................think it cost £2 or thereabouts - full kit, airline, spanners, 2 free needles and many more extras...............in fact there was a big thread about it on this very site(where Mike passed comment)a number of members on this site, bought the same Airbrush "just to try out" When I need to Airbrush,,,,,,,,,,,the cheapo is always the first to come out, havent used my other brushes in ages. heres a review............stick with it, you WILL all learn something from it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgSQ4-QJsDA Airbrush review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGMLiyPnLAw
malpaso
I've used copydex as masking fluid with tamiya paints - absolutely no problems whatsoever.
malpaso
And copydex is miles cheaper than proper masking fluid. Like either medium the trick is applying accurately, any brush is one use only!
S5 modeller
Thanks for the info malpaso, was worried about the copydex as it has a rather strong ammonia smell to it. Not how I remembered it from school!
LaurieS
I use a.m.t PRODUCTS Art Masking Fluid for Watercolour. It is very thin and is easier to use than all the blue type ones on the market. I have used it with a draftsman's pen which gives very straight & curved lines. To make it more visible you can add un-diluted watercolour. Easier to remove than the blue stuff. https://www.rosemaryandco.com/bits-pieces/watercolour-masking-fluid Laurie

It's nice and fluid, and BLUE! It's also ammonia-free, so it doesn't make a mess of any acrylic paint I apply it over.
