probably too late, but Merlins are painted black,

hurricane_13.jpg

this is a IIb, Z5252,  pulled out of a very cold lake in Russia in 2004,  it's all original paint well preserved, note the exhaust haven't rusted away

see for more http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/sheppard/hurricane_Z5252/index.htm

and Hurricane internals apart from cockpit side walls and rear bulkhead are painted aluminium, including wheel wells and gun bays, until a changeover it seems in 1942.

Looking good. I have a Bf109e on the go at this scale. I have the Hurricane too. I'll look forward to see how this goes together. You're a brave man brush painting this beast.

great stuff.

Looking forward to more.

John.

Thanks The Spadgent,I have always used a hairy stick because I find painting relaxing,my models are never going to win comps[even if I entered them],so the finish I get is okay for me.I have never cared about accuracy regarding paint and their correct colours or shade,I will leave that to the experts,I use whatever paint I have got in stock that looks closest.:D

As long as you're having fun is all that matters. :yahoo:

I did not put the engine in the  nose, as it seems a waste of all the painting and  gluing,so I put it on a coaster, and yes Troy Smith,it should be black, but I like it this way.:D

Apolgies for my painting errors,I dont use masks or any of that stuff that makes this job easier.:banghead:

Hi Celtic,

Your Hurricane looks great! If you want to correct any errors on the transparent parts I find you can take acrylic paint off with a cocktail stick. Just scratch away the bits you don't want. Great scheme you've picked by the way. Cheers Greg

Thanks GREG DESTEC,but as I do not have a good completion record I will leave this alone,I usually do a couple of gaffes per model and I have already thrown the wing gun panels away with the box:banghead:I dont want to tempt fate by scratching the paint on the canopy.:(
