'40 Ford Custom Pickup (Revell 1:24)

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

After completing the recent BoB Group Build with lots of aftermarket goodies, I thought I'd opt for something 'out of the box' for my next build.

My youngest has been asking for a truck to be built so we had a quick scan on the internet and he picked this out.

I'm going to strip the chrome plate and Alclad it back on. I might also have a bash with one of the Alclad 'Candy' colours. Never used them before so any advice appreciated :)

Cheers

Nigel

That's a good little kit, goes together with no bother & with a little effort (which sounds like your plan), it can look fantastic.

Thanks for the heads-up Phildagreek. I could do with a stress-free build :)

Hmm don't see many classic pickups about. Is there a kit of the Ford F1 pickup?

I found one by Monogram with the power of Google. Not sure of availability though!

This looks to be an interesting project

I will enjoy watching this come together with your attention to detail this should be another show stopper!

Roger

You are very kind Roger. I'll be happy to just do it a little justice :)

You have made the rims look so much better buy drilling out the holes nigel, what colour candy are you thinking of painting it?

Shaun

Thanks Shaun - Only took a few minutes so definitely worth it!

My lad has chosen Electric Blue - 709. Should be arriving in a day or two :)

Played for the first time with the 'Candy Coat' today. Thought I'd do the wheels the same as the body. Started with the Silver Base:

And added one layer

Two layers

Three layers

Four layers

Really quite pleased with the finish and looking forward to the panels :)

Hi Nigel! I was just thinking, when I saw your post in my Centurion build, that I hadn't seen anything from you for a while so, upon investigation, I find you back in the motoring section with another rather interesting build. Those wheels came out beautifully!

Sorry I'm late!

Kind regards,

Stix

Haha - Thank you Stix. You are very welcome :)

I've not been able to do much in the last few weeks and every time I threaten to, something else stops me.

HOWEVER, I hope to change that this weekend

Cheers

Looks very nice! I have the Zero Blue Candy for a bike project; I wonder how they compare side by side?

Thanks Vontrips! :)

Funny, I thought how great this product would be for a bike build too :coolio:

Will you be doing a WIP?
