Paul J
I wonder if the necessary differences between the D and M are portrayed such as the dorsal fillet, some changes to wing under side areas, engine, Curtiss prop, other than decals!

This is strange because MPM and Special Hobby are two different companies. First P-47M and current P-38 are produced by MPMshop (local Academy distributor) which cooperating with AZmodel (and reboxing their Grunau Baby IIb) Your picture is from Special Hobby (ex MPM Productions) a rival company

stevehnz
I do hope that they have done something to rectify the lousy shape of the kits oilcooler/turbocharger air intakes under the engine. The Tamiya P-47 is the best in this area, followed by Revell, Hasegawa & Academy trailing a dismal last imho. Unfortunately I'm not seeing it on the extra sprue so I'll continue to scratch build them for this kit which in all other aspects is decent & importantly cheap. Steve. dfqweofekwpeweiop4
The Revell P-47M is better detailed overall but has a slightly large belly and the landing gear is too short. If anyone gets this Special Hobby P-47M, ignore the rockets on the old Academy sprues. P-47M's never carried any rockets (ever!). Also be wary about using the bombs and drop tanks, I can't recall seeing a picture of a real P-47M carrying anything, although I'd be surprised if they never at least used a drop tank or combination of drop tanks. thanks Mike
