Thanks fella`s,

Here is the latest update,......the first coat of matt varnish has been applied and a watercolour wash has been applied so almost finished now! After applying the matt coat the decals silvered like mad and I had to paint carefully around the codes ec in an attemp at covering this up;

I had forgotten to remove the outer set of bomb doors from the kit which I should have done at the start but these have now been cut off ready for the resin replacement doors to be fitted in the open position. A bit more weathering,.......addition of all of the `sticky out bits' and the model should be finished. I do regret using the Pavla resin tail as it is so fragile,......each individual tailplane has broken off once during the build and the tips of the tailplane are so fragile that they have both broken off too and had to be repaired!

Thats all for now,

Tony

Lookin' good Tony, looks like you might have survived the silvering decals witch.

How is the back, good enough for a trip to Telford, I do hope so? A year since we bumped into each other, time fly's mate.

Cheers Colin,

I`m almost there with it now. The back is still bad so its 50/50 whether I`ll make Telford,......I`ll make a decision tomorrow and then we can cancel the hotel,......hopefully I`ll make it by gritting my teeth. Yes a year has flown hasn`t it mate, it was nice to catch up with you mind you.

Cheers

Hi Tony

Awesome work fella, looks great, I hope your back is better for Telford and you have an enjoyable time and distraction from the pain.

Keep up the good work

Chris

Cheers Chris,

Yes I made it to Telford and met loads of friends and even managed to stay under budget and bring some money home with me! I`ll pay for it next week though when I`m laid up,...but what the hell,...live for today eh!

Cheers

Hiya Folks,

Well I`ve finished this one at last, my third bomber model built for this Bomber Command Group Build! , Unfortunately the Kits at War decals for AE854, SB-J `Joybelle' of 464 Sqn RAAF silvered like mad and so I had to paint around them a few times and even went over the red code letters with a very small brush to make them stand out a little better. I also had to paint more white teeth to extend the `sharkmouth' around the nose because he kit decals were not long enough!

I`m quite happy with the result although the resin tailplane is very fragile and has broken a number of times during the build, and the bomb foors are very fragile too. Bomb racks and bombs came from the spares box, the smaller 250lb bombs coming from an Airfix Swordfish.

Hiya Keef,.....cheers for your kind remarks and I`m glad you like it,......I`m quite chuffed with it myself as it is a model that I have wanted to build for years. I`ve just built a SAAF Mk.I too so I`m still on a bit of a Ventura roll.

Cheers

Hiya Chris,

Cheers,....glad you like it! I went to see the spine specialist today but it doesn`t look very hopeful,.......I have to go for a scan to confirm the damage but it is still looking as if the damage is beyond surgery,.......a bit gutted really.

All the best

Tony

I am hoping the scan contradicts the specialist's preliminary diagnosis. I would strongly recommend whatever is said by one specialist is checked out by another. This is one area a second opinion is almost mandatory. You are in my thoughts.

Thanks lads,......unfortunately this bloke is my third opinion! The other two were real duck eggs and this bloke really knows his stuff and was very straight with me which I appreciate, rather than dancing around the edges like the other two.

Anyway,....at least other parts of my anatomy still work eh!
