HammerUK9 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECIj35JCNXQ Did I mention the self-shadowing, fully clickable, 3D cockpit? Tim
noeyedears Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 i bought the original release and played it right up to BMS4.2 hires plus hitiles. didnt know someone was still working on it as the site went down years ago (cant remember its name). i still have the folder with all 750MB of update files in it, god it was a pain to install fully. last time i played it i remember there was a fog/ cloudbase problem. when flying in the valleys and mountains using NVG the fog went opaque and when you came out of the base of it, it was a sharp planar division. Do you know if it has been fixed? watching that vid makes me want to install it again.
Pielstick Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Yep, the definitive version of perhaps the most ambitious jet sim ever made. Fifteen years on and it still can't be beaten in terms of the dynamic campaign. 1
HammerUK9 Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 BMS 4.32 is remarkably painless - particularly if you're used to the 'Falcon Dance' of old As to your NVG problem, I've not experienced anything like that - everything is reasonably seamless. Although some of the graphics do look a bit dated Tim
noeyedears Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I wish i still had the EF2000 sim too, i loved that one. 1
Pielstick Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Some smart people managed to get EF2000 to work on modern Windows and DirectX. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3830314/EF2000_Reloaded#Post3830314 Edited January 16, 2014 by Pielstick
noeyedears Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Cool, just watced the vid, the soundtrack brings it all back.
prowler0000 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 It's available FREE on their facebook page, too... Along with F-22 Total Air War! https://www.facebook.com/totalairwar?fref=ts
Pielstick Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I can remember back in 1996... being 15 years old and pretending to be ill so I could get the day of school and sit and play EF2000 instead. Much more interesting than double French! 1
DarrenH Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Great to see BMS doing so much greatvwork on the King of flightsims. Many hours spent on the Korean peninsula by day and night in the best campaign game I have ever seen. Great stuff.
planehazza Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Bumping an old thread. Those that are into the details of sims like they are of modelling. BMS 4.33 is the CLOSEST thing by far to flying the real Viper, and it keeps getting better.
NoSG0 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) If you still have room on your SSD, looks like more improvements and VR support are imminent. Looks like they are really improving this. Be sure to get the right version of Falcon. I believe you need Falcon 4.0 for for BMS. If you get the Falcon collection, this link should help, but read carefully! https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/6808/gog-falcon4-to-bms-for-dummies This link on reddit gives you information on what to get and set up. https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/qjl41c/bms_is_easier_to_use_than_ever_if_you_havent/ Various setup videos here. https://www.youtube.com/c/AviationPlus Edited December 25, 2022 by NoSG0 4
One 48 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Falcon 4 BMS 4.36 has been out a little while now though, hasn't it? On BMS 4.36 3.1 update here now. But yes, go back a while with this sim, one of the old contributors to this site we used to fly early TE's in Falcon 4.0 online in UK dial, up days (Peilstick .. a navy career guy) it was a lot of fun. We'd try campaign mode but UK typical bandwidth of 3.5KBS couldn't cut it, the TE's were possible and we had up to 6 online for successful missions with voice back in the day ... very immersive stuff. Its great to see this amazing F-16 study sim get some VR love, Cliffs of Dover soon too. 1
Putty Animal Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 That looks amazing. Even more so considering the age of the original software. I'd love to see Il-2 1946 get clouds like that one day. 1
One 48 Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Falcon BMS 4.37.0 with VR support got released today, wow, wasn't expecting this so soon. Have it installed but not tried VR yet .. will soon though. https://www.falcon-bms.com/news/falcon-bms-4-37-0-released/ 2
