smuts Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Hi guys, this is the first of my entries Hasegawa's very nice Scooter, being built as a Marine bird in Nam... fitted the avionics bumps & intakes first ... pit built up just adding a True details Escapac.. engine fan.. Andy
Parabat Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Good work already going down the range, looking forward to your updates.
Bertie McBoatface Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I'm sure you will enjoy working your wonders with this outstanding kit.
BrandX Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Wowsa, that cockpit looks sharp! Looking forward to seeing more.
smuts Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) Hi guys, & thanks for the compliments.. Airframe is built up & waiting for primer, have to say used more filler in this then the last 5 builds!... change of markings too as VMAT-102 were a training wing, so I'll do the CAG bird from VA-195 who did run CAS ops during their tours... Bertie McBoatface Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 ... used more filler in this then the last 5 builds!...Andy I'm surprised, last time I made one it all fitted perfectly. I've seen your stuff so i doubt that it's poor technique on your part and I've seen me working so I know it's not my magic fingers! I guess different batches of plastic, different moulding temperatures, different shrinkage rates and so forth really do add up to significant differences in fit.
CatcliffeDemon Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Coming together nicely though. That VA-195 CAG scheme will be cool too.
Chris Jephcott Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Having seen this in person, it's looking serious impressive Andy!
smuts Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Hi guys, built up the lower fuse now just the little bit to put on..... Having seen this in person, it's looking serious impressive Andy! why thank you kind sir.... Hi Don, built one a few years back & don't remember using this much filler only a bit round the gun ports so..... any how... pre shaded Tamiya NATO brown & gunz red for the dropped slats.... just sprayed a coat of XF-1 to the undersides post later.... Andy
Chris Jephcott Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Looking excellent Andy... Just catching up on the admin work having been away for the last few days!
smuts Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 Hi guys, been busy at work (bloody shifts!!!) anyhow... upper airframe sprayed with Gunz FS16440 (H315) & masks removed fitted slats & flaps... just waiting for some True Details goodies to come through the letter box now... Andy. 1
splinter Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Hi Andy, I cannot comment much on your A-4, since I never made something similar, but it makes me happy to see some other similarities like piece of ordinary glass on your workbench. I remember paying around 1 GBP for my 10x10 cm piece but it's worth maybe 100 GBP in scale modelling: working with PE, masking... and so on...
