Max Headroom
Hello and welcome to my first WIP for 2012. As you may know, my output isn't that prolific so any opportunity to kit bash I sieze with both hands. Mrs Headroom bought me TWO kits to do (she spoils me!). The company is KETAR and at least one was moulded in Israel but as far as I am aware has no connection with Starfix. Anyway, here is the customary box shot . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and the contents Normally, I start with the cockpit, but there didn't appear to be one here which was rather puzzling because here are the wings - note that landing lights are included on both leading edges No filler was required during the build and also no glue. Pre painted in matt beige/black there were no painting instructions so I can't give FS, BS or RAL equivalents I'm afraid. You will note that there are no markings, so options are confined to WHIF. It went together quite easily. Here is one I did (with help) yesterday. I call it my A.V.Roe hangar. . Thanks for looking! Trevor does these count towards my total for the year and inclusion in the Yearbook? - they are plastic and kits after all
Parabat
That is some great work and thanks for the review. Would you recommend this kit for a newbie? Are there any accuracy issues? I know you said it is pre-painted, but I think that the Black roof is, well, a little TOO black, the original was more of a Shwarzgrau.
Max Headroom
That is some great work and thanks for the review. Would you recommend this kit for a newbie? Are there any accuracy issues? I know you said it is pre-painted, but I think that the Black roof is, well, a little TOO black, the original was more of a Shwarzgrau. Yes I would recommend it. A bit rough round the edges and TBH you can see the seams if you look hard enough. I hear what you say about the roof. I believe that it will 'tone down' in time and change to a more moss-like colour in time. I have populated the interior with the obligatory mower and 'things'. As an optional extra, I'm considering something called a home brew kit which involves the fermentation of various things which are supposed to produce (correct me if I'm wrong) "wine" or "beer". Does anyone have any details of this and what is the difference between these beverages? Thanks in advance Trevor
Parabat
Nice touch, adding the A/M mower and 'things', I presume they didn't come with the kit? Good news on the roof, it'll look good once its weathered. Down to its chemical makeup, 'beer' and 'wine' have the same basic constituent - ethyl alchohol. However, they differ vastly in presentation. 'Beer' is made from hops, barley, yeast and water, and 'wine' is made from grapes. I have seen kits available for making both. I'd not concern yourself too much with ratios or how to 'thin it down', this should be explained by the relevant manuals. I'm not sure if there are conversion charts to check home-made against factory stuff, the consistancy might be right, but you might need to check the liquid against a 'splash' chart to make sure you've got it right! Nigel Heath
This looks like a nice tidy build although I am disappointed you don't mention what scale this kit is, it looks quite big to me so I am guessing 1/12? I do like it when manufacturers go the extra mile and include important details like those leading edge lights although I am having a spot of trouble locating their position on the finished build. I am also not sure this rendition captures the aerodynamic cleanliness of the original, the finished result looks to have all the air cleaving characteristics of a wardrobe. Max Headroom
Thanks Nigel Both are now in service although the smaller one did suffer slight damage when paving slabs were placed against it doh! Scale was undeclared so without direct reference it's hard to say and although 'things' are stored successfully, the wine and beer production was not feasible. spruecutter96
Deffo needs a nice pin-wash to bring out the surface details..... Other than that, a truely cracking build, Sir! You are going to need one very large display cabinet to keep them in. Cheers. Chris.

Alex Gordon
Doesn't the cover sheet on the packaging state that this is the 42 cubic feet model? The full size one must be quite impressive.
