  1. Very nice! The Wyvern is a Trumpeter kit btw. thanks Mike
  2. No problem! They'll be in this afternoon's post Enjoy your build! thanks Mike
  3. HMS Belfast's beam is 69ft. She was rebuilt and bulged after her back was broken by a magnetic mine in 1939. After re-construction, Belfast was the RN's biggest cruiser at 11550 tons std displacement. thanks Mike
  4. I've not seen it, so I can't comment from experience. I suspect Sheffield is highly likely to be done in plastic in the next few years, most likely by Flyhawk and if they do that, there's no point in getting a resin one! I'm prepared to wait for things as I've got loads to build anyway. Flyhawk's Penelope is keeping me busy for now. thanks Mike
  5. There's loads of Royal Navy ships in the pipeline in 1/700 and the Flyhawk kits are best by a long distance! My advice is to wait to see if anyone does HMS Manchester or one of her sisters. If you can't, L'Arsenal of France do a resin kit of HMS Sheffield, which is probably the closest you'd currently get to Manchester (or indeed the old WEM Sheffield if you can find one). Someone mentioned the Colony class cruisers, L'Arsenal also did HMS Jamaica in 1/700 as well as Sheff. If you want ships built in Hebburn - try Flyhawk's 1/700 HMS Legion - I have it and it's an amazing kit. Flyhawk also do HMS Naiad (which you could maybe convert into Cleopatra if you wanted a 2nd Dido). Flyhawk previously announced they will be doing HMS Kelly. Also of note - WEM used to do HMS Sussex, Tamiya do the E class, so HMS Electra? IBG of Poland will be doing G and I class destroyers - so Greyhound, Imogen and Imperial might be possible. thanks Mike
  6. The new tool P-40N is a great kit, I'm building one at the moment. Highly recommended - Tamiya like fit and quality if you ask me! thanks Mike
  7. It was most definitely heading south towards Ashington. I didn't go to the Sunderland air show this year (went to Flying Legends instead) so I don't know what days it did at Sunderland but they had some footage of the Sunderland air show on the local news and the Bronco was there. thanks Mike
  8. True but it's best to check rather than assume. This is the first real kit by Arma of any interest to me personally and potentially on a business basis too. thanks Mike
  9. We had what looked like a Bronco fly over the village, heading south on Friday , presumably to attend the Sunderland air show over the weekend. About 2 hours ago we had a pair of Tornado's flying over the village, low and fast, looking like they were following the ECML northerly. thanks Mike
  10. I see your doon sooth thanks Mike
  11. There is no really good Hurricane Mk II kit but at least the Hasegawa one builds nicely and has some fine exterior detailing. Nice n Neat job there! thanks Mike
  12. Great build but that aircraft is too early for the rockets. I can guarantee you that it never carried them, as the 56th only ever used them once or twice after D-day and hated them and never used them again! I'm not sure they used the big belly tank that early either, it would have been either the 75 gal teardrop tanks or the 108 gal paaper tank. thanks Mike
  13. I've built 3 Eduard 1/72 FAA Hellcats - both the ones from the Dual kit and the Nightfighter. Excellent all round kits with no real issues. Far better detail than anything that's gone before it, especially with the etch parts from the Profipacks. I'm not sure what else you can say, they just are simply better kits than the others out there. I've built the Hasegawa and Italeri kits before and whilst not bad, the Eduard ones are better in every respect, they're even not that expensive either. I've not seen the Cyber Hobby Hellcat, which is supposed to be quite nice and has folding wings but you can also get several Eduard Hellcats for the price of one Cyber Hobby Hellcat. So no question - Eduard every time thanks Mike
  14. Dragon's German 1936A Type destroyers are awesome in either 1/700 or 1/350 thanks Mike
  15. Same for me too, I was missing a couple of French ones. I've got pics of a real Norwegian RF-84 too, from when I went to Norway. thanks Mike
  16. This build might get resurrected now. Revell have sent me a replacement glazed parts sprue, so I have a new windscreen. I also have the Eduard mask, so hopefully I'll not break another windscreen when trying to mask it! thanks Mike
  17. I would paint the radar the same as the camouflage colour unless you know different (or anyone can tell you different). You can see a catapult track of the port side of the forward flight deck. The big radar is an SK-1 air search radar, very common on larger US warships. thanks Mike
  18. It might have been. I've got the Malta Spitfire/Re2001 set and the Aussie Vc boxing and they are all 2 cannon jobs. I don't remember any 4 cannon Sword Spitfires, although I did make one as they kit had 4 resin cannon barrels and I had spare decals from the Airfix kit. thanks Mike
  19. Thanks Jan! I'm liking the four cannon Spitfire Vc. It's good that you chose one that Sword hadn't already done, all their kits were of the more common 2 cannon Vc. I have built one of your Spitfire IIb kits and it wasn't bad at all. thanks Mike
  20. Is the Hurricane IID an all new kit? Or is it based on the previous AZ/Legato Hurricane kits? thanks Mike
  21. Thanks, it really is a nice kit and anyone who likes 1/48 kits, should have a go at an Eduard Bf109! thanks Mike
  22. Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109G-4/Trop. This is one of the options in the Bf109G-4 Profipack edition, which comes with mask and cockpit etch. This kit was a nice one to build with no major fit problems. The etch on the tropical filter was a bit tricky to fit but that's about it! That was only because you had to bend it in a curve to fit, the rest of the etch was easy to use. It's nicely detailed and I even tried a bit of pre-shading on the top but I've tried to keep it subtle. It's painted with Vallejo Model Air and while it won't win any competitions, I'm quite happy with the finished model. If you build in 1/48 and you like Bf109's, you really should build some Eduard kits! thanks Mike
  23. Here's a completed entry from me! Eduard 1/72 Hellcat Mk II. thanks Mike
