    Lockdown Meals

Well, I have noticed one thing - the variety in my diet has changed immensely! Back in the days pre-Covid I usually lived on things like curries, stews and the like - meals I could make in bulk, apportion out into individual serves and keep in the refrigerator until I was ready to eat them. Since the world-wide shut-down, my morning paper (the Sydney Morning Herald) has taken to publishing a new, simple recipe every day under the title of "Home Made". I've dutifully cut most of them from the paper and filed them away, and am now gradually cooking my way through them. I've eaten a lot of meals which, in other circumstances, I would never have thought to try.
  2. It should be a big step up from the old Revell kit! Hopefully we can talk Rowan into re-releasing his Triplane sheet ...
  3. Yep, still available. I'll confirm postage when the PO opens again on Tuesday and get back to you. Can you let me know an address, please, via pm.
  4. Dýou reckon that would stop them? Besides, in those days we had C-47s, Bristol 170s and Lincolns - can you imagine a Lincoln spreading super?!
  5. A mate has just sent me this link to footage of cropdusting in New Zealand in the 'fifties - some useful stuff here, what with new kits of the Bristol 170 and Tiger Moth now upon us! If only we had a Tiger (or Bristol 170, for that matter) in 1:24 - add an Emhar Bedford and you've got a great diorama! https://youtu.be/de4ouCF9qWA And getting the Air Force to do your cropdusting for you - I'm amazed our Cockies' Party didn't try that on here ...
  6. If you want some 1:48 Anson turrets, pm me. I have a pair of Classic Airframes Ansons that are to be built as Australian civil aircraft (one East-West Airlines, the other I haven't yet decided) so I won't be needing the turrets. Yours for the cost of postage.
  7. Or you could grab a Falcon conversion set: http://www.jaysmodelkits.com/jaysmk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1143
  8. I can help with the Dart and the Bison; I'll get them to you via Dropbox shortly. AFAIK Av. News didn't do a drawing of the Blackburn Blackburn - I have most of their stuff, and it's not among that lot.
  9. I had another look - my kit is actually the MiniArt one, so I'm still interested ...
  10. Oh Gawd, Aggie! A Rapide AND a Wapiti at the same time! The credit card's going to cop a hammering!
  11. I'll be interested to know if you get a reply - I have the ICM B Type (which I understand is the same plastic) that I want to build in something other than a Green Machine scheme.
  12. As long as they have "VH-" registrations! Seriously, I have drawings, prepared in CAD, of some of the Australian civil stuff (ANA, Ansett, Ansett-MAL, Air Express) - pm me if they're of any use.
  13. If you can find it, there's everything you ever wanted to know (but were mortally afraid to ask) about the two Danish Condors in Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor With Danish Airlines in War and Peace, 1938-1946 by Rob Mulder and Gunther Ott, published in 2013 by European Airlines Rob Mulder. It's no longer listed on the website, so I suspect it's out of print, but may still be available via the usual second-hand outlets.
  14. The reputation of some places spreads around the world - this is doing the rounds down here at the moment: In the UK, some supermarkets have admitted that there is horse meat in their home cooked burgers. Even places like Burger King have had to admit that there are "small amounts" of horse meat in their burgers. Tesco is a big supermarket chain in the UK. Within hours of the news that Tesco's 'all beef hamburgers' contained 30% horse meat, these quips hit the Internet: I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse. I guess Tesco just listened! Anyone want a burger from Tesco? Yay or neigh? Not entirely sure how Tesco is going to get over this hurdle. Had some burgers from Tesco for supper last night. I still have a bit between my teeth. A woman has been taken into hospital after eating horse meat burgers from Tesco. Her condition is listed as stable. Tesco are now testing all their vegetarian burgers for traces of unicorn. "I've just checked the Tesco burgers in my freezer .. "AND THEY'RE OFF!" Tesco is now forced to deny the presence of zebra in burgers, as shoppers confuse barcodes for serving suggestions. I said to my spouse, "These Tesco burgers give me the trots... "To beef or not to beef, that is equestrian"..... A cow walks into a bar. Barman says, "Why the long face?” Cow says "Illegal ingredients are coming over here stealing our jobs!" I hear the smaller version of those Tesco burgers make great horse d'oeuvres. These Tesco burger jokes are going on a bit. Talk about flogging a dead horse. Since they're selling the meat wrapped in plastic, is that technically a "Trojan Horse?" Instead of choosing "rare, medium or well done, it's now Win, Place or Show" At first, I thought, "Oh great, I've been saddled with another email to forward, but something spurred me on."
  15. Reminds me of the late Ronnie Barker's spoonerised version of Cinderalla (called, not surprisingly, "Rindercella"...). Some very funny stuff - all delivered with a perfectly straight face!
  16. Ah, yes - medicating the cat. I finally got the technique the vet taught me perfected to the point where I could give 'Is Nibs a pill without having to race off to Emergency for a blood transfusion immediately afterwards just before he had to be put down ...
  17. Thanks, Ali - let me count the number of Twotter sets I need, and I'll get an order off! Will be in touch in the next couple of days with another suggestion, which may or may not be viable. Won't do it on the site, as it may get a bit messy.
  18. Curses! Beaten to the punch! I was in the process of drawing that scheme up. Oh well, I'll just have to buy another kit ...
  19. It's Hasegawa - you didn't really expect it to be cheap, did you? Those moulds must have paid for themselves a dozen times over!
  20. And I see from the latest Big H newsletter than Hasegawa has (once again) re-released its Neppie kit.
  21. I seem to recall a Hunter in the same series. The ejector seat was worked by a plastic fork which went under the seat and stretched a rubber band, with a clip on the bottom of the seat - a pin from the bottom of the seat which fitted through a hole in the fuselage and clipped via a nick in the pin. Push the pin and away went the seat, along with the canopy and windscreen! Overall not the world's best Hunter, but a heap of fun for a ten year old!
  22. Exactly as it should be. The master sleeps where he will; the slaves fit in around that!
  23. Haven't seen the Eduard kit, so can't comment on it. Of the remainder, only the Airfix kit has the wheel well correct (rear face of the well is the forward face of the main spar). All others have the rear face of the well following the line of the rear edge, and will need an aftermarket set to correct it. In addition, the well on the Hasegawa kit is too shallow.
  24. You have, but it's more than worth another look! And yes, you should crack on and finish it!
