  1. I think it was Camouflage Grey and used for operations over Former Yugoslavia. There was one aircraft in the scheme at Leuchars Airshow in the 90s and it looked close to the Tornado F3 and lighter than a Sea Harrier FA2
  2. I was looking at a photo of early Jaguars last week and every one had a different camouflage pattern
  3. It's interesting to compare some of the original Modeldecal sheets with Hannant's reprints - both the reds and the blues seem to be brighter on the reprints. I suspect it's down to available standard inks
  4. Interesting the Nigerian ones are in FS colours - and they reference 'Night (642) as Black PS if anyone wants to download the high-res version of @Max Headroom's photo , better be quick as Flickr are introducing restrictions on non-PRO accounts from today
  5. Nice re-release - still hoping that someday pictures of the ones impressed into RAF service (albeit briefly) might turn up!
  6. In Europe, Usually marked with a white star or white star in a circle. in the desert, they often drove in original markings, but I have seen RAF roundels as well.
  7. If you google Spitfire BR416, there are a few photos online
  8. Just to follow up on option 4, At the time I posted above, I thought it was 'probably correct' for the straight tail, but I hadn't seen a photo of 'AVW' to confirm (ASLAT had both straight and bent tail H19s, straight one shad the V tails, bent ones the 'horizontal ones). However, I've since found that the kit scheme is based on a museum example with a bent tail and straight tailplanes, so again not correct for the released plastic. https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/registration/55-1086
  9. Probably due to shipping going via the Cape rather than through Suez to avoid the Houti attacks on merchant shipping
  10. If 38, then the 1947 date must be wrong
  11. Agreed, and quite shiny at the back end for a fabric covered aircraft! I'd say red from the photo. I also suspect it's just an aircraft letter As ti the unit, I suspect it's a flight (ASR or Comms) rather than a Squadron - and it might not be based at Hal Far
  12. The kit has the straight tail boom - as far as I can see (leaving aside other issues) that's correct for 3 out of 4 of the kit schemes - the exception being the RN version (whoch has a lot of other differences as well. Whirlybirds did some updates including revised grilles for British versions I did pick them up from Air Craft (who now own the Whirlybirds range) but it doesn't seem to be currently available https://www.air-craftmodels.com/accessories
  13. My copy of the re-issued Hagedorn & Tincopa Curtiss Design 75 book arrived yesterday. What a superb volume (although slightly perplexed by a photo of a Tomahawk labelled as a Mohawk in the RAF section - was this in the original book?)
  14. The Pegasus Be2e is one of their later kits and not bad at all
  15. Out the box, I think you might be pushed to get anything beyond a jeep (Italeri) or a Heller Ferguson Tractor (IIRC at least one of the versions they do was used by the RAF). Emhar did a series of Bedford trucks that might be able to be converted to military versions (There used to be some resin conversions, but not sur eif still available)
  16. It gets confusing as the original OAO web page is still live too!
  17. AlleyCat no longer do direct sales, that's all been passed to Modelsforsale As per the front page of the Alley Cat site: However, AlleyCat sold the Odd and Ordnance range to Martin Higgs (WhatIf Sig Leader) although still listed on MFS as Alley cat for now. As martin says below, this si just a side gig for him, so it's possible MFS don't have any timelines for bits https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=mr7kbkea33ail61rcs2d7q26ev&topic=52829.0 Might be worth dropping him an email directly? His email is on the IPMS SIG page
  18. Thanks! I think it was Chris who sent me a copy of the scan. April 2007 does correlate to my loss of sent emails
  19. Be interesting to compare with the Revell kit that's due soon - people originally thought their A6 would be a rerelease of the RIICH kit, but it turned out to be a new tool
  20. Second articles confirm the photo is of an aircraft post-shootdown. Interesting the video show sone taking off with captive AIMs and a practive carrier
  21. Some more might be informative https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/video/flight-lt-nick-richardson-back-on-duty-adriatic-night-on-news-footage/804815258 This article shows a pic of '000' that Nick R is shown inspecting https://iainballantyne.com/keeping-watch-off-a-burning-shore/
  22. Is this the photo? I don't think this IS 002, but 190l tanks, AIM9, bomb and strakes - I'd say no probe
