  1. T2? OTRAG daglo orange perhaps.? 9Q-COA I think it was. When it came to Manston for maintenance it looked like it had just left the paint shop, it was like new!
  2. Cant help thinking that we should have kept the Belfast a bit longer as compared to the Atlas they are about the same size. I know technology moves on but my point is that they all have their strengths be it Globemaster Atlas or Hercules. The Belfast was handy to have around if it was too big for the Herc. Also if the size and weight of equipment needed at the front line keeps going up then "we're gunna need a bigger plane guv".
  3. I tried to buy one yesterday in the Hornby shop itself in Margate. Guess what? No stock.
  4. Having had the the exciting privilege to fly in Spitfire MJ627 I can tell you that at all times the attention to me and my co flyers that that day was extremely efficient and professional. At no time did I feel in any danger and was able with full refund before engine start to call a halt to the flight. At all times I was under no duress and was doing this of my own choice (also it was a present from my lovely wife ). This may sound like a product review, however the opportunity to tomake these flights has been a dream for many years.
  5. OK,forget what I said! On closer inspection my interpretation on the markings was wrong. But it has made me think to look closer next time!
  6. I have been around long enough but the penny just dropped! Thi is the first yugoslav Spitfire that I recall seeing in colour and it appears to me that the british markings have simply been overlaid with red stars. I suppose if I had made one myself it would have been obvious. I feel inspired, so thank you for sharing your fine model. PS, check your canopy hood ).
  7. The red white and blue D type roundel was wishful thinking on my part. But maybe C type would be more discrete? Interesting that colour can be used if desired.
  8. That is just rubbish! Why bother as your opponents will probably shoot at you beyond visual range anyway. Stick a nice coloured red spot on it I am sure it must be illegal anyway. Red White and blue D types for the RAF/FAA.
  9. I think that was their ill fated Mk XIV,which I think is being rebuilt to fly? Anyway we need a nice new kit to make it ( 1/72-1/48 ).
  10. A nice Spitfire and Hurricane civvy sheet from Extra decals in 1/48 and 1/72nd would be very nice!
  11. Lovely piece of work, thank you for sharing. Just think what if? Marlin fire bomber whith T56,s or Tyne,s....
  12. Thank you Mungo for the update. It is important not to forget the people involved here.
  13. Would the ex RAF aircraft suit them as I think they are about to start retirement?
  14. Looks a bit goofy with that large nose overhang. There seems to be a bit of Scorpion in there as well, intakes shoulder wing and twin vertical tails?
  15. I like Roden kits but I think I will stick to the Minicraft kit.
  16. I was always led to believe that insignia was very important to service men and women the world over. Am I wrong? Moral and the feeling of unit pride are big motivators are they not?
  17. Does anyone remember the Short /Lockeed project of the Belfast with Starlifter engines and flying surfaces? I am definitely enjoying this build as I have three on the production line now, but progress is slow! If I ever work out how to put the photos on here I would gladly show you! !
  18. How about a 24th Lysander? I'll get my coat!
  19. It was my thought that we as usual would only put one carrier to sea at any one time! Hence my musings. I am well aware that these things are complex.
  20. I worked on Theseus XR362 I believe, and a twenty minute air test. This was at Manston at the end of the seventies when we had three to look after.
  21. That's a cracking shot, something we don't see enough of. Any more?
  22. Maybe Roden or Micro Mir will provide a nice 1/144 th model sometime soon.
  23. I built the E3D some years ago and I thought it an excellent 707 airframe, and the cockpit windows just right. So many kits get the look all wrong when it comes to this area.
