  1. Very nice and very realistic And very good pics too
  2. My hat's off to your brush painting skills! And you're right about the markings, too Cheers GM
  3. Well, at first sight I thought it was 1 48 just like mine! You did a hell of a job on this
  4. Thanks Batcode and Wolwe82! @Wolwe82: I'm sorry, Academy's instructions are of no use concerning the gun barrels; in fact, they are not part of the kit, they come from my spares box. I went with what I saw in some pictures (probably the museum lookalike planes, as you said). I'd say, go with what you feel most reasonable, and enjoy it Thanks again for popping in Cheers GM
  5. Thanks Ken, much appreciated. You are absolutely right about the undercarriage, it doesn't look right. The problem (my fault) is that I didn't dry fit the legs before mounting and painting the whole thing, so I ended up fitting them in and then saying "That nose looks way too high". Anyway, at that point I didn't trust my limited abilities and decided to leave them as they are. About the kill markings: I totally trusted Academy's decal for that, and only now that I read your post, I counted them and they are 63! I also had these pictures for reference, but it's like the third different camouflage scheme I found about Khozedub's machine, so again going along with Academy's decal scheme, I thought that my version could be an earlier one, i.e. 3rd star not yet assigned. Well, I guess I'll have to revise my research and do better for next time. Thanks again for your comments GM
  6. Thanks everybody, I'm glad you like it.
  7. Hello everybody; second completed model for me here on BM, it's Academy's 1:48 Lavochkin LA7, Soviet Ace Ivan Khozedub's machine. The subject is probably well known, and the kit too; I built it as part of my learning curve, experimenting new (to me) techniques and some scratch building. Some details about the kit and my built: - first time masking with blue tac (called Patafix here in Italy, and it's actually white); I must say I'm pretty happy with the soft edge you get with demarcation lines - scratch built pitot, using a prescription needle - scratch built details in the wheel bay - scratch built minor details inside the cockpit (harnesses, some piping and control wheels) - I had a horrible time with the kit decals, so I decided to paint on the red stars on the tail rudder (I think it shows, as the inner star is a bit off center compared to the outer), the two red&white triangles on the engine covers, and part of the numbers. - aerials went south when I painted them, so lesson learnt for next time: first paint, then glue 'em in (it's a standard white cotton thread) - gun barrels are from the spare box On with the pics, any comments welcome Underside: More details: Cockpit details Pitot Cockpit again Tail Nose
  8. I'd never had guessed it was Tempera! I'll try that (matter of fact, I just bought a full set of Tempera paints for my daughter's art class at school, so ...) Thanks Tango 1
  9. Very neat panel lines, I like them! What did you use for them? Cheers GM
  10. A small update; as per Colin suggestion, a new pic of the head with a reference to compare (unit is millimeters) and also main part of the body, with base color and some highlights
  11. Coming along very nicely! I had a hard time myself with those walkways: lots of water and setting solution to set them right, but I think they add a lot to the whole thing, don't you? By the way, very nice painting scheme
  12. I surely missed your masterpieces, welcome back! Bonne santé e a bientôt
  13. Ok, can you post some pics of the model now? Oh, wait .. . this IS the model?
  14. Thank you guys, glad you like it. @Billy: it's a full figure, the rest of the body it's only primed at the moment. I left some work to be done during Xmas holidays @Colin: having started painting miniatures from 54 mm and 75 mm, I feel a little more comfortable with this scale, at least with the face painting. I'll post some new pictures with some reference for scale, as soon as I get back to working on Mr Stonewall. I wouldn't know which actor it reminds you, to me it has a few contact points with Bud Spencer (actually an Italian actor whose real name is Carlo Pedersoli, he used to do a lot of Spaghetti Westerns)
  15. First time for a figure this big, I bought it on a good deal , so it's a sort of test bench, especially for the eyes area and flesh tones. This is where I am so far (apologies for the poor quality of the pictures, they've been taken using a phone camera): Please feel free to comment. Cheers GM
  16. +1. I must get around one of these Tamiya kits, sooner or later Cheers GM
  17. I feel your pain here ... When I did mine, I took those edges off twice, and then I ended up adding some spare plastics to fill the huge gap between them and the rest of the fuselage, plus tons of putty. I should mention that I had the insane idea of not mounting the wings till that point, so I had even less reference points. Anyways, yours is coming together very nice, especially with those PE bits Cheers GM
  18. I've completed this kit a couple of months ago (matter of fact my very first submission here on BM), and I'd been working on that since April this year Good luck with it, fit is a major issue, but I ended up having a lot of fun and I hope you will too. By the way, your start is far better than mine: you've made those seats looking really (and I mean: really ) good
